INDIANAPOLIS _ The Bengals' injury toll appeared on Marvin Lewis' Game Day roster Sunday with strong safety Kyries Hebert making his first NFL start and linebacker Darryl Blackstock moving to right defensive end. And, for the second straight game, third cornerback David Jones (knee) was out and Jamar Fletcher made his second Bengals start.

Also having a big impact on the game is the inactivation of running back Kenny Watson (hamstring), a key guy in helping rookie left tackle Anthony Collins deal with Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney.

Bengals inactives
Posted by MarkCurnutte at 12/7/2008 11:26 AM EST on Cincinnati.com

INDIANAPOLIS -- Darryl Blackstock will start at right defensive end today for the Bengals in place of Antwan Odom, who is inactive.

Other Bengals inactive players: cornerback David Jones (knee), tailback Kenny Watson (hamstring), safety Chinedum Ndukwe (foot), linebacker/end Eric Henderson (neck), left tackle Levi Jones (hamstring, back), tight end Ben Utecht (foot) and Odom (shoulder).

Other changes in the starting lineup for the Bengals: Jamar Fletcher will start for David Jones at cornerback; Kyries Hebert will start for Ndukwe at strong safety; Anthony Collins will start at left offensive tackle for Levi Jones; and Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback for Carson Palmer, who is the emergency third quarterback but probably will not even be in uniform.
AT
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (8-4)

GAME DETAILS
TIME: 1 p.m., Sunday
PLACE: Lucas Oil Stadium, FieldTurf under retractable roof

INJURIES
CIN: QB Carson Palmer (elbow) out; LT Levi Jones (leg), S Chinedum Ndukwe (foot), RE Antwan Odom (shoulder), TE Ben Utecht (foot), DE Eric Henderson (neck) haven't practiced much, if it all, this week and aren't expected to play. DL John Thornton (wrist) and RB Kenny Watson (hamstring) surfaced on injury report Thursday and didn't practice.
IND: LB Gary Brackett (fibula) isn't expected to play. Neither is DT Keyunta Dawson (hamstring). C Jeff Saturday (calf) is iffy. S Bob Sanders (knee) is thought to be able to go. None of them practiced Wednesday and Thursday.

THE SERIES
Colts lead regular season series 14-8-0, postseason series 1-0; 4-3 in Indianapolis, 3-3 in Baltimore, 0-0 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

NOTEWORTHY
Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is four catches away from becoming 102nd NFL player with 500 career catches, joining Bengals Chad Ocho Cinco (604) and Carl Pickens (530) ... He'll be the fourth player on the field Sunday to get it, behind the Colts' Marvin Harrison (1,090), teammate Ocho Cinco (604) and the Colts' Reggie Wayne (556) ... Bengals QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has six touchdown passes this season while Colts QB Peyton Manning has thrown six in a game twice, the last in 2004 in Detroit ... That's one more than QB Akili Smith had in his Bengals career and one less than Turk Schonert ... The last six AFC receiving yardage titles will be represented Sunday. Harrison did it in 2002 and Wayne in 2007. Ocho Cinco did it from 2003-06 ... Wayne succeeded Ocho Cinco as the NFL yardage leader in '07, when Houshmandzadeh shared the league receptions title ... With Ben Utecht out, look for Bengals tight end Nate Lawrie to get some work in the return to his hometown ... With two more points K Shayne Graham moves into second place on the Bengals all-time scoring list with 661 ahead of Doug Pelfrey but still far behind Jim Breech's 1,151 points accumulated over 13 seasons ... Graham, the second-most accurate kicker of all time with an 85.64 field-goal percentage, kicks Sunday in the city where the leader did most of his work. Mike Vanderjagt has been out of the NFL for more than a year, but his 86.47 has held up. Graham needs to make 12 straight to overtake him ... The Bengals have never beaten Colts head coach Tony Dungy in five games under three different head coaches. He beat Bruce Coslet's 1998 Bengals and Dick LeBeau's 2001 Bengals while coaching the Buccaneers. He beat LeBeau again in 2002 during his first year in Indy and then bested Marvin Lewis in 2005 and 2006.

NFL RANKINGS
CIN: 32nd in scoring, 32nd in offense (31st rushing, 30th passing); 24th in defense, (24th rushing, 20th passing), tied for 23rd in turnover margin at minus five; IND: 22nd in scoring, 22nd in offense (29th rushing, seventh passing), 15th in defense (25th rushing, sixth passing), tied for seventh in turnover margin at plus-five.

COACHES
CIN: Marvin Lewis 43-48-1 regular season, 0-1 postseason in his sixth season, 0-2 vs. Colts, 0-2 vs. Tony Dungy; IND: Tony Dungy 88-32 in Indianapolis and 144-78 overall in 13 seasons, 5-0 vs. Bengals, 2-0 vs. Lewis.

THE WEATHER
The Colts make the roof determination 90 minutes before the game. With the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio calling for 24 degrees under mostly sunny skies in Indianapolis Sunday with winds of about nine miles per hour out of the northwest, it's probably going to be closed. It was closed in the Colts' last home game, a 1 p.m. kick on Nov. 16. According to Colts public relations icon Craig Kelley (in his 24th season anchoring the horseshoe in the press box), if there is any chance of moisture the roof closes because there is no crown on the field. There is zero percent chance for precipitation Sunday in Indy. Kelley, Maestro of The Minute for grateful scribes everywhere, reports that on Nov. 16 the temperature was a balmy 37 degrees.

LAST TIME THEY MET...
December 18, 2006 - In a matchup of Pro Bowl quarterbacks in the raucous RCA Dome before a Monday Night national audience that anticipated every fantasy player's dream, the Bengals suffered the nightmare scenario. Carson Palmer sat in front of his locker with the same blank stare that resembled the Bengals passing game in Monday night's 34-16 loss that seemed to suck away every good feeling of the last month. Head coach Marvin Lewis blamed dropped passes. Chad Johnson, who may have ended up with as many catches (three) as drops, said he and Palmer just couldn't connect after five games he had averaged more than 100 yards.
Bengals-Colts 12.7
Sunday, December 7, 2008, 11:36 AM EST [Bengals]

INDIANAPOLIS -- Doesn't look like Levi Jones will be playing today, same with the other usual suspects -- Carson Palmer, Eric Henderson, Ben Utecht, David Jones, Chinedum Ndukwe, Kenny Watson.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and Chad Ocho Cinco spent some quality time together on the field before the game. For about 15-20 minutes, the two of them threw and took time to talk.

Another interesting (well, you know, as much as anything is interesting) tidbit was Josh Mallard practicing deep snapping some -- he was snapping to Brad St. Louis. The way this season has gone, it never hurts to have a backup plan, especially in a position where there's no backup.

OK, here's the list.

Out

Carson Palmer

David Jones

Kenny Watson

Chinedum Ndukwe

Eric Henderson

Levi Jones

Ben Utecht

Antwan Odom

Sub -- Darryl Blackstock starting at left defensive end and Jamar Fletcher at left corner. Kyries Hebert will be starting at strong safety.

At this point, I'm just watching to see what the rookies, backups and third stringers can do. It's like preseason.....in December!

Bengals football.....FEEEEEEL the excitement!!! :headbang:
12/5: Bengals Weekly 2008 (Week 14), Heinz red zone play of the game was Grahams field goal. I'm just curious to see what they show in week 15 if we dont get in to red zone at all, which i see real possibility. Maybe they need to return some money to sponsor...
