No he isn't. Hanigan is a better hitter AND throws out base stealers MUCH better than Ramon has. Not saying that Ramon is garbage, but c'mon.
it has been a VERY long time since we have had a catcher work as well with pitchers as Ramon Hernandez. Plus Hernandez is a good hitter, but he struggled as soon as he had to play 1B.

Hannigan is hitting 336 on the year, but he is hitting 160 with RISP and a 267OBP. He has 1 HR and 8 RBIs in 131 ABs

Hernandez as a catcher (no 1B statistics used) is hitting 289, 2 HRs, 18 RBIs in 142 ABs, 356OBP. With RISP he is hitting 321 with a 472OBP.

I want the catcher who works better with pitchers and hits in the clutch. Hernandez does both. He also was hitting 300 before he moved to 1B and then struggled there (he hit 202 as a 1B) and is slowly coming out of it now. Even when Ramon sucked at hitting while playing 1B he still hit well with RISP. He has a great approach at the plate and goes the other way if that is what he needs to do. If all of our hitters took the approach he did we would be a much better team.

Hannigan has shown he can swing the stick, but he cant do it with runners on. Are we going to lead him off?
This is the first game Ive really done that because they had bases loaded or a guy on 3rd less then 2 outs like 3 or 4 times without converting. Plus I was bored as shit today so I was posting every inning. Im normally pretty calm.

And right now there is no reason we cant win this division, when EE and Volquez come back we will be a better team. Plus as I heard a guy on MLB network say the other day teams with young players sometimes can make it through the long season without getting as tried and therefore being in a little better position then teams with a bunch of older players.

AND if we can make it to the playoffs who knows what can happen. With pitchers like Volquez and Cueto, and hopefully a solid Harang and a bullpen like we have if we make the playoffs we have a shot.

So yeah I chicken littled, but maybe thats just because I have more faith in this team then you do and expect them to play better then they are.
i have plenty of faith in this team, but i expect them to play the year right around 500. i expect someone in our division to go on a big win streak and end up quite a bit over 500. i see this team as improved from the past, but i dont see them winning more than 86 games. i dont think 86 games will do it and i dont want to kill the great core and minor leagues we have to just make the playoffs and not be a true contender. i would rather continue building to a much greater thing. i dont want to sacrifice the major potential of the next 5 or 6 years for a low ass chance this year and i dont see this team capable of making the playoffs this year without a trade. i am only ok with 1 player on this team being traded and that is Bronson Arroyo.

Probably better then batting Taveras leadoff, at least hanigan gets on base...

Anyways, brew crew lost tonight so we are only 2 games back of first. Lets take 2 of 3 from the cards!

cant take ramon out of the lineup. he is one of the only guys who can produce with RISP. if hanigan wants PT this year he has to learn a different position for this year and next year.
Taveras and Rosales need to go bye bye.
Rosales hustled his way back to Louisville about a week ago. Didn't you notice we'd won 2 straight series? We now have Danny Richar and Drew Sutton instead.

Taveras's salary probably makes him safe, unfortunately.
i love EE, he is a streaky player because he lets the game get to his head when he struggles. he has the talent to be damn good.
Agreed, if he can put up some solid numbers...maybe like .285 15 homers and 40 some rbis in the second half it will make this team a lot better, and he definitely has the potential to do that...

And as upset as I am with Wily T right now, Im actually kinda interested to see him bat in the 2 spot tonight. Hopefully Dickerson can get on base and then allow Taveras to try to lay down some bunts and get Dickerson over and even beat it out for a bunt single. Thats when Taveras can get dangerous.

So far Bailey has been pitching really well tonight.

5 Innings, 1 Hit, 0 Runs, 1 BB, 5 K - 69 pitches
He retired something like 13 or 14 batters in a row before hitting a Cardinals batter to break up the streak.

The Cardinals have 2 hits now.
The 1st hit came from the very first batter of the game and the 2nd hit was with 2 outs in the 7th inning.

7 Innings, 2 Hits, 0 Runs, 1 BB, 5 K - 93 pitches

Baileys final line: 7.1 Innings, 3 Hits, 2 Runs, 2 BB, 5 K

Rhodes came in a walked a rookie with 0 at bats on 4 pitches to load the bases
Weathers came in and gave up a grand slam to Pujols.

Reds are now losing 4-3

What Rhodes did was absolutely, unfathomably bad. However, Dusty's solution was equally retarded. Poo Holes was 9 for 18 against Weathers with 2 home runs. Dusty's gut had better ideas, though, and that's just a silly statistic; one that now reads '10 for 19 with 3 home runs.'

Also, Janish is here because he's supposedly a very strong fielder with a very limited bat. As little as he's played, though, he's made quite a few costly errors, and hopefully today's will have sealed his fate. He should be the next man gone when a DL spot ends.

Rhodes who struggled a couple days ago should not have been brought in for a situation like that. There was NO intelligent reason to bring in Weathers when Pujols absolutely OWNS him. There is no reason to EVER pitch to pujols when you are up 3 runs and the bases are loaded. And to top all things off YOU DONT FUCKING LEAVE IN HERRERA TO FACE RIGHT HANDED BATTERS WHEN THEY HIT 300 OFF OF HIM! Herrera is a lefty specialist. He had already given up 2 fucking hits so go ahead and let him pitch to antoher righty! Dusty you fucking dumbass. He made like 5 mistakes in the final 2 innings, what a dumbass.
