!!! OFFICIAL 2009 NFL DRAFT THREAD - DAY 2 !!!

Recommended Posts

I'd have much preferred C as I think I made clear. I'm not sure Caldwell will be there at 98, but then Johnson wouldn't have been either.

Johnson is a genuine all-out situational pass rusher. So that's good now we've got the beef on the line and the studly LBs.
I don't think Cook is a good fit in the offensive scheme at tight end because he can't block at all.

Johnson in round 3 would make me cream in my pants though. A rotation of Geathers, Odom and Johnson would be pretty damn good IMO.
get the kleenex out.

Yeah, that was pretty odd. They never give us love like that. Plus they are giving us an entire segment of the show.

Does he start for us?

How do you grade this pick?
definitly doesnt start, hes more of a situational pass rusher... seems like the kind of guy who could get 7 or 8 sacks in limited time and look like a steal, but hes not going to be in there on rushing downs unless he totally changes his mind on how he wants to play
i just nutted all over myself... we got 3 picks with first round talent without trading... i'm loving it
this is starting to remind me of the 2003 draft. Got 3 first round talents, Palmer, Steinbach, Washington (that's not my eval, but pre-neck injury he was highly rated) with the first 3 picks.

Defensive End | Senior | Georgia Tech Michael Johnson
Height: 6-67/8 | Weight: 266 | 40-Time: 4.75

Official Bio

Strengths:
Has a large rangy frame with extremely long arms...Outstanding athleticism...Great speed...Quick and agile...Terrific range...Explosive with a burst...Does a nice job in pursuit and closes in a hurry...Great leaper and will bat down passes...A terror off the edge...Has shown the ability to make impact plays...Decent production...Has a ton of upside.

Weaknesses:
Lean with average bulk...Isn't very strong, tough or physical...Has a terrible motor...Will get manhandled at times...Almost a non-factor against the run...Is not stout at the point and gets pushed around...Sub par instincts...Runs himself out of plays...Limited experience...Plays with poor leverage...Intensity and commitment have been questioned.

Notes:
Was a backup who entered the game in passing situations his first three seasons with the Yellow Jackets and didn't start until his senior year...Named 1st Team All-ACC in 2008...Was a finalist for both the Bednarik and Hendricks Awards as a senior...Some feel he could also project to outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme...The type who will make one or two amazing plays then disappear for the rest of the game...Not nearly as impressive on film as his stats and measurables would lead you to believe...Has the physical tools to be great but needs to be a lot more consistent...Status as a top prospect is a product of potential and hype...One-dimensional "Workout Warrior" who will likely be drafted earlier than he should be...Finesse player who won't be able to handle an every down role in the NFL and profiles as a 43 pass rush specialist.

I dunno, I guess its a cool pick

Much rather have someone who would/could start

The tape is terrible...BUT if he toughens up then maybe...yeah

Center next?
Then RB?

Then what?

WTF is up with all the Bengals coverage alladasuddin?

I think they are trying to get some tape and hedge their bets for when we are on the playoff run (I told you so's)
