1. Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma - How many good receivers have ever come out of Oklahoma? And would it matter? You still have Kyle Boller throwing the ball, so it doesn't matter if you have Jerry Rice. The scouts say that Clayton isn't strong enough to handle the physical game at the next level. Also that he runs crisp short area routes, but will sometimes take soft angles and round off his breaks. Finally he needs to do a better job of throttling down vs. zone coverage. Several scouts are sure that he'll be the biggest first round bust of the draft.

2. Dan Cody, DE, Oklahoma - All you need to know about this guy is that he's been treated continually for clinical depression. Is there anything that could depress someone more than to be banished to Baltimore?

3. Adam Terry, OT, Syracuse - The Rats actually traded UP for this guy! No wonder the Patriots are so dominant. They're able to get a couple of third round picks from the Rats for a guy who, by all accounts, sucks. OK, so it's appropriate. Here are some snippets from the scouting report on Terry:

He struggles to uncoil on the snap. Displays marginal explosion and pop on contact. Does not generate much push at the point of attack. Lacks that aggressive nature you expect from a left tackle and despite his size, is more of a wall-off, finesse type that will not generate many knockdowns. Seems to lose his leg drive when making contact. He can still be fooled to jump offsides when he anticipates the snap. In pass protection, he struggles at by oversetting and will then have to redirect and power down inside.

4. Jason Brown, C, North Carolina - Has had weight control issues and considering that his frame is past maximum growth potential, any additional weight will affect his mobility. Does not have the top-end speed to cause damage working into the second level. Labors to get into gear as he is heavy-footed. Loses his stamina late in games, as he will revert to leaning and pushing rather than gaining position. Poor foot speed prevents him from getting good position upfield and he struggles quite a bit to get in front on traps and pulls. Does not have the change of direction agility to redirect when beaten by counter moves.

5. Justin Green, FB, Montana - Poor speed. Does not have any burst off the snap and lacks a second gear to elude moving up field. Will never provide much help as a blocker, as he lacks technique.

6. Derek Anderson, QB, Oregon State - OK. Let's try it again. The Rats have now drafted five quarterbacks in six years. Every one of them is better than Kyle Boller. Anderson is already better than Kyle Boller, despite the fact that he stares down intended targets from the get-go, and slow going to secondary receivers. Tends to direct his passes. Makes poor reads, shaky under pressure and seemingly predetermines where he will throw the ball, no matter if it's into triple or double coverage. Must improve his overall footwork as he drifts in the pocket and releases the ball off his back foot.

7. Mike Smith, LB, Texas Tech - If you're going, "Huh?" - you're not the only one. From what I understand, Ozzie Newsome ordered a pizza from Papa John's, and the name of the kid that delivered the pizza was "Mike Smith". Just for kicks, he turned his name in on the card and as it turns out, there was actually a Mike Smith available in the draft. Maybe he'll take Ray Lewis' job.

BoLLLLLLLer Improving

It's really unfair for everyone to criticize Kyle BoLLLLLLLer and his 2004 passing performance. BoLLLLLLLer did improve the Ravens Passing attack this recent 2004 season when compared to 2003.

In 2003, the Ravens finished 32nd, the very bottom. However they were able to improve this past 2004 season:

They finished 31st!!

The Rat fans need to be more patient with their young QB. If BoLLLLLLLer can play until he is 53 years of age, he may take the Ravens' passing ranking all the way up to # 1.

Fans, try to remember that his 2003 season was also his rookie season. Give the guy a break. It's not like anyone would have expected him to win Rookie of the Year in 2003.

Those awards usually go to positions like Wide Receiver, Tight End or Running Back. These are positions that are mastered more easily than the QB position. Who would expect a quarterback to come into this league and win Rookie of the Year? That's absurd!
