I'm good with the TO signing but I did hear a concerning thought on the radio the other day by I think Thornton.

As JT put it, if TO signs with the Bengals, Drew Rosenhaus basically has the Bengals over a barrel next offseason as he represents the Bengals top two WR's. Owens would likely only be on a 1yr deal and Chad would be going into the last year of his contract.

JT is wrong. The Bengals have a team option for 2011 ($6 million).

From Peter King . . .

a. Carson Palmer on the possible addition of Terrell Owens to the Bengals, via a text message to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson: "If any qb can deal with extravagant wrs, it's me."

b. Be careful what you wish for, Carson. I mean it.
It could be that the Bengals were feigning a lack of interest in order to soften up Owens' expectations. With Ochocinco due to earn a base salary of $5 million in 2010, the Bengals likely won't be inclined to pay T.O. a penny more -- if they're even willing to pay him $5 million.

Didn't Coles skate out of here with 10 mil in one year?

this smells like what the Bengals did with Dhani and Landon Johnson. Bring both TO and Bryant in and offer them the same deal. The first one to sign gets the deal.

Antonio Bryant will have company in Cincinnati on Tuesday
Posted by Mike Florio on March 8, 2010 8:24 PM ET

It was reported earlier today that receiver Antonio Bryant will visit the Bengals on Tuesday.

He won't be alone.

Receiver Terrell Owens is visiting the Bengals, too, a league source has confirmed. (Adam Schefter of ESPN reported it first; we're not sure why we still bend over backwards to mention that when so few of the other media companies simply say "confirmed" and nothing more.)

Receiver Chad Ochocinco has been actively lobbying the Bengals to sign Owens, and quarterback Carson Palmer recently expressed approval of such a move, too.

At a minimum, it'll be almost as awkward as the first shower-room encounter between Patrick Willis and David Carr if Bryant ends up joining the Bengals instead of Owens.

Pete Prisco said this on twitter . . .

PriscoCBS I think Antonio Bryant to the Bengals would be a good move for the team. He can still play. Better than Coles was at this time last year.

I think that if this is the route they go, the deal on the table will be something in the 3yr $18-20 million range, front loaded. They'll wait and see which one bites. If neither does, I would think they'll go back to negotiating with each individually, assuming they still want both of them after their visits.

Cincinnati's visit with Owens Tuesday will be important, as the team will get a feel of whether he fits with the Bengals. Owens is good friends with Bengals Pro Bowl receiver Chad Ochocinco, who has been lobbying for the team to sign T.O.

3 years 18-20 mill to a guy thats 37 years old?

If we sign TO it should be 2 years max id think, unless they structure the contract so the 3rd year was pretty much a Team option where we could cut him with no hit or anything.

In addition to Antonio Bryant, the Bengals will host free agent Terrell Owens at their team headquarters Tuesday.
Bryant and Owens are essentially competing for the same job. Bryant would be the better addition because he's nearly seven years younger, possesses superior deep speed, and is a more efficient player. Chad Ochocinco has a lot of say in Mike Brown's organization, though, and he is pulling for T.O.

that's why I said front loaded. I don't think TO would ever see that 3rd year.

Im conflicted on who I want...TO would probably be better this year, and more fun...but he is 8 years old.

same here. My concern would be how Chad and Bryant would mesh together ego wise. Sure TO has an ego, but he and Chad are friends.
