At least he's being honest as opposed to other news casters or journalists or commentators whatever you want to call them who's interests are in seeing that the plutocracy keeps power.
Yeah, I give him that. He is entitled to his beliefs.

What does that have to do with the original post?
Well, Backer posted this because he thinks there is some vast pinko conspiracy at large in the good ole U.S. of A. Contrast that to the candidate that an actual conspiracy put up for a Senate seat. Now it's popular to be down on Congress in its current composition, but I can't help but smile a little when I consider the caliber of one O'Donnell vs. the other.

This is my point I have been trying to make....

At what point does government involvement in your life become too much?

When they take from the rich and give to the poor?

When they create programs to keep the general public from hurting themselves?

When they take over the Health Care system?

When they start rationing toilet paper?

I ask you again... and again....and again....

When is enough...enough?

At what point do you say "NO MORE", Jamie?

In my mind enough was enough a long time ago.

Why save when the government is there when you lose your job? Why work when the government will feed and give your children medical care? Hell... why work when the government will give you medical care?

When is enough....enough?

In the Banking industry, we don't have enough, we don't have nearly enough.

In the Health care industry, we don't have enough, we don't have nearly enough.

You're very job in how Beck and O'Donnell are defining this argument is a socialist job, you are a socialist.

If I am correct and Backer took unemployment when looking for a new job, he took advantage of a socialist program, he is a socialist.

You see we live in a society and what that means is that our behaviors both good and bad effect each other both positively and negatively. And because of that the impact to us can be great or hugely detrimental.

We've seen that in how this economy has been hit by the negative aspects of our society.

This idea of rugged individualism is utter bullshit dreamt up by those in our society that would prey on the innocent in order to profit, and use patriot type words like "liberty" to manipulate people to allow it to happen.

Innocent people who did nothing, did not participate in bad loans, did not invest in derivatives, did nothing wrong at all, have lost jobs, homes, and been deeply hurt by the actions of others.

We need these programs to save the innocent of us from the not so innocent. Defending those that want to take them away because they are "socialist" is bat shit insane.

The argument as they are framing it is simplistic and sophomoric.

I agree with you to a certain extent...but your and my definition of the amount the government should be involved is different... I feel they are already way too involved in some areas and not enough in others and therein lies the argument.

Fix health care yes....but do it properly not just to say hey.... we accomplished this. etc.....

I have a question though. Backer, when you were out of work a few years ago and were looking for a job were you collecting unemployment?
I tend to disagree with people NOT collecting unemployment, under the following pretense:

They have paid into it over the years, more than they are collecting as a short term term boost. Is it a social program, yes. But, its also something we EARN, rather than are given as a hand out. Similar to Social Security/medicare. The people that collect SS have, in effect, been depositing money into that account their whole lives, they deserve to have access to a bit of that money once they hit retirement age. In my eyes, its the same with unemployment. Pay in, and if you need it short term, pull out. I've never needed to use it and have scrambled to find work doing anythign to have money coming in, but as far as social programs, its one I'm glad my taxes go towards.

Its long term, government dependance welfare and to a lesser extent, medicaid, that I have a problem with.

It has nothing to do with the original post. It is just Homoer moving the
ball, trying to ridicule someone and being a dickhead.

That is funny that you know why Backer posted it.
Maybe he posted it because a News Anchor for
a Network you like to masterbate to, says he is a
Socialist, and it was worthy of discussion.

No, that can't be it.

Stop what?

I am replying to posts in this thread.

Homer attacked Backer. I responded to it.
Is only Homer allowed to attack people unwarranted here?
Although, my attack on him was warranted this time.

So no, I will not stop posting my thoughts here.

Don't like it? Ban me.

Backer is a grown man capable of defending himself, he doesn't need you to do it for him.

I dont need to ban you, I will take it to Go again and he can deal with it.

You arent doing anything here but carrying on from yesterday, dont insult my intelligence.

I am not defending Backer. I am a grown man capable of saying what I think.
I saw a post and then some ridiculing from someone that was uncalled for,
and had nothing to do with the topic. And I responded to it.

Go tell Go. I don't care. Matter of a fact, I don't care what he had to say yesterday either.

I am just going to start posting more in this forum.
I am allowed. Aren't I?
