1.) No I'm holding on to the notion that an iconic charcther who is extra human should remain such, there is no time period that changes that.

2.) In the originials? Granted its been a long time, but I dont remember the Kryptonian race as salvageable.

3.) As in he was created in a lab, not the same thing.

The purpose of creating iconic charcters is that they ARE NOT human. Giving someone how isnt human a human compass just creates all sorts of problems, and really isnt why these charcters like Superman are created. As I said it works for Batman because Batman IS human, Superman is not. I'd argue the world hasnt changed in those terms from the 40s. Its not black and white then and grey now, it was grey then as well, and that's WHY Superman was created.

1) agree to disagree.  Films need to be reflective of society.

2)
Superman's DNA contained the codex and basically embryos of all of the genetically created babies on Krypton.  That's the whole reason Zod was after him.  Superman chose to save humanity (by killing Zod) rather than work with Zod and re-populate the Kryptonian race.

3) I never said Cap was the same as Superman.  Even pointed out he wasn't.  None of which was the point.  The entire point was that Cap changed as the times changed, and in kind you can't write Superman the same way he was written 40 years ago.  It had nothing to do with powers.
As for the last part, its been a part of every incarnation. Superman was raised by humans, in a human home.  He's ALWAYS had a human compass.  MOS just finally made him interesting and layered.

Pa Kent has always been the moral compass of Clark/Superman.

1. Thats fine. I disagree that they do. I think the point of creating iconic charcters is that they are iconic, not human.

2. I realize that for this movie, I'm talking about it in the orignial, I dont recall Kryptonians as salvageable in the orignial.

3. But Cap even though he has super-human abilities is still human, Supe is not.

Not true, he got his moral compas from his conversations with Jorel in the fortress of solitude, that was a huge thing in the originals.

I thought the point of the movie was that Superman is

I think we will be seeing Superman this weekend.

Is there anything post-credits?

I didn't stay for one, but that was based on what Go Skins said above.  I haven't heard anything elsewhere as far as there actually being one.

I gave this link to Go-Skins, pretty cool app.

There was little doubt, but now it is official - Robert Downey, Jr. is returning to play Tony Stark/Iron Man in the next two "The Avengers" movies.

Under the two-picture agreement, Downey will star in those two films - no mention was made of a possible "Iron Man 4" in the press release.

No word as yet regarding Downey's financial compensation for the agreement. More as it develops.

Good to see on both fronts. I want him in Avengers 2/3 but don't really see a need for Iron Man 4+

So I'm assuming his costars got a raise? I had heard that was his sticking point?

Hollywood must really be out of ideas:

http://www.punchdrunkcritics.com/2013/06/warn-white-house-independence-day-2.html?spref=tw

Independence Day 2 has been slated for a patriotic July 3rd 2015 release. Of course there are no plot details yet, but it'll probably involve aliens blowing up American monuments in a dramatic show of extraterrestrial force. Will Smith isn't confirmed yet, and he's been a little shaky on the subject in the past, but considering how well After Earth performed (as in not well at all), he may be looking for an easy hit. Bill Pullman has expressed the possibility of the film continuing even if Smith declines, but nobody wants ID2 without Smith. That would be a bad business move.

That rumor has been going around for more than a decade. It must be getting close. It won't happen without smith though.

They've got Pullman and Goldblum back but looks like a no go on Will Smith. Could be a bit of negotiating through the press though.
