The Big Ten's best recruiting class just got even better.

Linebacker Curtis Grant announced he will sign with Ohio State instead of Florida, North Carolina and Virginia. ESPN Recruiting rates Grant as the nation's No. 3 linebacker and No. 46 overall prospect. Ohio State now has seven ESPNU 150 prospects, tops in the Big Ten.

Grant appeared headed to Florida a few months ago, but Urban Meyer's resignation put Ohio State at the top of his list. Several of Ohio State's top defenders in recent years have come from Florida, including linebacker Brian Rolle and cornerback Chimdi Chekwa.

Grant and quarterback Cardale Jones are the late additions to Ohio State's 2011 class, although Jones will be a grayshirt and enroll in a prep school this fall before coming to Columbus.

With its 2011 recruiting class, Ohio State once again leads the way in the Big Ten.

Of the 23 commits, three are five-star recruits, according to Scout.com. Linebacker Curtis Grant (Hermitage High School, Richmond, Va.) committed to play for Jim Tressel's squad.

Grant — 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 215 pounds — is the top outside linebacker in the country, according to Scout.com
Another five-star recruit is quarterback Braxton Miller (Wayne High School, Huber Heights, Ohio). Miller — 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 185 pounds — is the No. 2-ranked quarterback in the nation, according to Scout.com. Rivals.com considers Miller a four-star prospect. He enrolled at OSU for Winter Quarter 2011.

Defensive end Steve Miller (McKinley High School, Canton, Ohio) rounds out the five-star recruits and is the No. 9-ranked defensive end, according to Scout.com.

Both Millers are among 14 in-state commitments.

The Buckeyes did not land all the high school players they coveted, however. Offensive lineman Aundrey Walker (Glenville High School, Cleveland), a four-star recruit by Scout.com, committed to Southern California. He is widely regarded as the top offensive line recruit in Ohio.

Scout.com ranks the Buckeyes' class No. 3 in the nation; ESPN ranks it No. 7; and Rivals.com ranks it 10th. Only Nebraska and Michigan crack the top 25 of any of the three ranking outlets. Scout.com places Nebraska at No. 24. Rivals.com has Nebraska at No. 14 and Michigan at No. 21. ESPN ranks Nebraska No. 14.

Offensive lineman Chris Carter (John F. Kennedy High School, Cleveland) was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of "fondling as many as eight girls while pretending to measure them for ROTC uniforms," The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported today.

Carter had committed to OSU before today, but there was no word from the university on the status of his scholarship[/quote]
