|Numbers| Posted August 1, 2011 Report Share Posted August 1, 2011 Donte Whitner was the 5th most prolific tackler in the entire NFL last year with 140 or so combined tackles. By comparison our most prolific tackler was Dhani Jones with 120 something. With Clements and Whitner we appear to be going after people not afraid to tackle and tackle alot. [/quote] It hasn't been great, and they've missed on some 1st round DLs of late, like Aaron Maybin from Penn St who was a total bust, and John McCargo. The Bill safeties other than Whitner weren't all that - I mean, George Wilson is OK. But most teams want to lock up their core guys, and I never saw that with Whitner, which is a red flag. I think they were more interested in getting Puz back, but it didn't happen. And, they drafted S Aaron Williams from UT this year. Makes me wonder... A lot. But he was a tackling machine for the Bills this past season . And he just turned 26 years old. His twitter by the way. I know it looked like he was productive last year, but I'm just not convinced he's an upgrade. His history of productivity has been unimpressive, IMO. The Bills had (reportedly) no intention of re-signing him, despite average talent at that position. Plus, they drafted a S as their 1st round pick this year. I hope I'm wrong if he comes here.
