The Bengals have gotten multiple calls about Carson Palmer's availability

Recommended Posts

Q: With so many teams in need for quarterbacks this year, why aren't we seeing anybody trying to entice Carson Palmer out of his retirement? At just 31, he could still be a major upgrade for any team in the need for a starter or even a mentor.

-- Hunter (Vt.

A: Because they know how dug-in Bengals owner Mike Brown is, Hunter. He isn't going to trade Palmer. He has made it known, in no uncertain terms, that he will not make a deal. The Bengals have gotten multiple calls about Palmer's availability -- and they have told whoever is calling that they aren't dealing him. If the Bengals want to change their stance, teams would be interested. But for the time being, they're not budging. Keep in mind, a few years ago, the Bengals turned down two first-round picks for Ochocinco from the Washington Redskins. They waited, and now traded him to the Patriots for a fifth- and sixth-round pick.

Here's a case where the old lie about the 2 firsts works in our favor. Nobody will even come without
a realistic offer.

Well, on the bright side, we likely would have used one of those first rounders on a receiver that year and they would have likely turned out to have been a golden turd.

Chad would have had to played really well to get the second first rounder if I'm not mistaken?

What does soP mean?

Son of Paul...

Not even dignifying him with his own name... as many would say, he doesnt deserve to be called anything other than just the son of a legend.

Considering who was throwing to him, they would have put him in the Hall of Fame on the spot if he had.

he needed something like 95 catches and 1500 yds to turn the 3rd rounder into another 1st rounder. He wasn't going to get that in Washington, especially with the way they kept screwing around with Jason Campbell.

I think you might need to work on that if you consider it an insult.

I really don't know; moreless guessed.

But it seems like the guys who use "soP" are the guys who really dislike Mike Brown.

Could be a mis-judgement; just the way I've perceived it also (being negative towards MB).

I dont call him that.

I assume it is an insult though, meaning he isnt deserving of the name Brown as it related to Paul, and instead is just the bumbling son of a great man who happens to own the same franchise his father founded.

I call him Mikey Boy. Like Tommy Boy, but much less successful.

You're right about the intent, Tigris. I just think it's an odd way to try and insult someone
"Son of Tigris' Dad"!

I cant imagine he has that much of a trade value. I just cant. Quitting on his current team cant sit well with other owners and coaches. He's driven down his value with his actions and being completely unprofessional.

around the league, they probably wouldn't hold that against him as much as we do. i have little doubt we could get a low 1st/high 2nd round pick for him.

Yeah, Schefter passing on the old canard that Washington offered two 1st rounders for Chad is typical of his halfass regard for facts. I wouldn't even think about trading CP unless some team made a godfather offer. The hell with any lowball BS,i.e., anything less than a 1st rounder. Kevin Kolb set the bottom end of the market for Palmer.

you may be right, i've never thought of it that way. it's basically the highest accolade you can give the guy.

Hate to bring up the Redskins again, but Rex Grossman is atop their QB depth chart. To me, they are just the team to make MB that godfather offer.

soP has been around the boards for years. Nothing new. If he wasn't the son of a legend who else would have given him a position in the NFL. I would not hire him to run my pee wee league.

That said, soP's stance on CP is another, in a long list of colossal blunders. Having two first rounders, or two high second rounders would help this team more, than the dick proving his fucking point.
You know that you run your team so fucked up, when even soP considers it a reward to trade a player from here. REALLY!

mike brown may not be willing to trade palmer but atleast he could do is throw out a figure like say a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Which is a very unrealistic offer but hey who knows as long as theres an offer out there someone may just get desperate and gamble.

Teams i could think of are Miami, Tennessee, Seattle, SF, Buffalo, Denver, Oakland, Washington could all have some interest in a QB. Some of those probably arent that desperate to take a big gamble like a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd but someone might. And if no one does take it well then you havent lost anything you still have CP sitting at home like you would anyway.
