In a Saturday afternoon news release the Bengals announced their Sept. 25 Paul Brown Stadium opener at 1 p.m. against San Francisco won't be televised locally. The ticket office confirmed too many tickets remain available for the game to sell out, so it won'be televised in the home market cities of Cincinnati, Dayton, Ohio, and Lexington, Ky. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Bengals Ticket Hotline at 513-621-8383 (or toll free at 1-866-621-8383), or by going to bengals.com.

The Bengals have a shot to be the most surprising 2-0 team in football if they can defeat a banged-up Broncos team on Sunday.

Bengals fans should enjoy watching that game on television because they may not see a home game for a little while. The team has already announced a Week Three blackout for heir game against the 49ers.

The fact they are announcing the blackout this early is a very bad sign for ticket sales the rest of the season. It indicates they aren’t remotely close to in the ballpark of a sellout.

Perhaps a surprising run to relevance could inspire future sales. Looking at the Bengals early schedule, they have a shot to stay around .500 for a while this year if they can get remotely acceptable quarterback play.

Colts preseason game was lowest ever, under 40k. That's tickets sold.

That's a big hole to recover from. Then you got to consider brokers are going to have lower prices. Which are tickets already sold. So even if demand picks up there's plenty of options than buying them from bengals.

No shit. Usually they don't say for sure until the friday before....it's like a kick to the nuts because i know the stands aren't gonna be full. Not to mention i can't come home and watch the victory all over again on tv :20:

They're obviously hoping to spur some sales by letting everyone know ahead of time there's no way in hell it will be televised.

Yah, that was my first thought too, but it's still sad that it's come to this.

Under 40k season ticket holders. No way they sell 28,000 single game tickes for the 49ers. Unless this team gets hot and stays hot the steelers game will be the only sellout of the year

X4 or 5 or so...

First homegame of the year. WHO freakin' DEY

Next Sunday’s game will be blacked out

Even with their first win in an opener since 2007, there wasn’t a mad rush to the Bengals ticket office this past week, which is why the team has taken the suspense out of next week’s blackout watch.

The Bengals announced on Saturday that next Sunday’s home opener against San Francisco, which was supposed to be televised by Fox, will be blacked out in the home market cities of Cincinnati, Dayton and Lexington, Ky. Yes, even if you live in the 75-mile blackout radius or are in the home markets and have DirecTV’s Sunday Ticket, you will be blacked out.

In issuing the release, the ticket office confirmed that too many tickets remain available for the game to have sold out by the Thursday 1 p.m. deadline. However, if you are interested, tickets can be obtained by calling the Bengals Ticket Hotline at 513-621-8383 (or toll free at 1-866-621-8383).

This will be the fifth straight Bengals regular season home game that will be blacked out after a string 57 straight sellouts in the regular season and postseason.

Good Lord. Read the comments left to that article.
If I had to read that kind of shit here everyday, I'd find a new hobby.
Pathetic bunch of self loathing victims.

Hopefully going 2-0 in convincing fashion today goes a long way towards remedying that. I wonder if this kind of news negatively affects the players or if it just reinforces the "us against the world" theme the team must be operating under right now.

as a fan it bugs me that most the national media ignores that the Bengals even had a game last week. As for the mentality of the team though, I think its a good thing.

I tend to agree, although you know those players want to play in front of a packed, loud crowd at home. They do literally feed off that energy. That said, maybe some of the players that have been here long enough feel like its their job to earn us back with their play on the field. That's how I would probably feel if I was, oh, Andrew Whitworth (whom I wish I could exchange lives with for a weekend!).
