Enhanced pat-down procedure implemented at PBS

Recommended Posts

Following guidelines in effect across the NFL since the opening weekend of the regular season, the Bengals will implement an enhanced pat-down procedure for gate entry, beginning with this Sunday’s 1 p.m. game against San Francisco at Paul Brown Stadium.

The new procedure is a recommendation from the NFL in accordance with the league’s Best Practices for Stadium Security. In addition to the checking of all bags entering the stadium and the limited torso pat-down—both implemented in 2007—the pat-down now also will include the area from the knees to the ankles.

The Bengals wish to communicate this new process to all fans planning to attend home games this season. The Club also wants to remind all fans of the items that are prohibited from being brought into the stadium.

Though it is not anticipated that the enhanced pat-down will significantly impact the process of entering the stadium, the Bengals have long recommended that fans arrive early to the gates, and the Club continues to so recommend.

Why the change now? What has changed that suggested a modified policy was needed this season?

This. Everyone needs to ask themselves this question. It's important.

Coming to an NFL stadium near you: “Enhanced” pat downs

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 15, 2011, 5:16 PM EDT

Fresh off Sunday night’s taser-fueled fan violence at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, the NFL will conduct pat downs from the ankles up this season.

In the past, the pat downs went from the waist up.

“The enhanced security procedures recommended by our office before the start of the season will further increase the safety of fans but will require some additional time,” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told USA T0day in a statement Thursday. “We encourage fans to come early, enjoy their tailgating tradition, and be patient as they enter the stadium.”

Apparently the league started this policy before the season started. Either some teams didn’t listen, or it just wasn’t especially effective in New Jersey.

The Bills warn their fans to expect longer lines on their website because of the “enhanced pat-down procedure” that is a recommendation from the league.

While it may be a short-term inconvenience for fans, anything that keeps fans safe should prove more popular than the NFL’s attempt at an “enhanced” regular season.

Why don't they just use metal detectors?
This is a good idea.

The NFL is a multi BILLION dollar business. If they really cared about their fans they would install metal detectors at the stadiums. If the government can afford to put them in schools to keep people 'safe' then there is NO reason the NFL can't afford to do the same.

Do they really pat down every person that walks through the gates? Joe Security guy who works at the mall now gets a free shot to feel up some drunk guys wife. This could get ugly.

I would bet a hefty sum they have male and female attendants to perform the search according to gender.

Was it a projectile taser or a handheld prong taser?

The prong tasers are worthless. They provide a jolt, but the projectile ones are the real deal.

As a teenager, my friends and I would make bets as to how long we could take the prong taser contact... its hard to take it for more then a few seconds, but its more like holding on to an electric fence, rather than a debilitating blow... maybe tasers are more powerful now though. I would not fuck around with the projectile wire ones though. No fucking way.

Back to the point of the thread, if Rumbles people werent trying to harm us then we wouldnt need pat downs at all.

:ninja:

And by Rumbles people, I mean Browns fans. Nasty group with nothing to lose. *shivers*

This.

Well, that and our citizenry has devolved into a gaggle of simpering cowards...

I'm fully in support of Ron Paul for the 2012 election now, and I'm someone who doesn't vote,
what ever happens to our freedoms.I know the NFL want's to keep the fans in attendance safe
but this is not the way to do it. and the Bengals of people should know better, when they have a hard time trying
to get anyone to go the game's now, this just adds more fuel to the fire. What great job the tsa done by
running people away from the airport, pretty so it will be all the sport's stadium's and where ever else
people go.

If the game was in Oakland I'm pretty sure they hand guns out at the concession stands...
