This. Isn't just cynical thinking... it is what is happening. The government will "re-regulate" and joe public will thing "all is well" again. When, in reality, your politician is going to say to anyone that comes with ideas of regulation that "let me see what the banks think"... before they'll do shit.

That is a fact - seen it happen.

That's by in large, though not all, Dodd/Frank.

News Flash: "Disparate group of anarchists can't agree on anything. Remain impotent."

Lol. Solipsism in action.

Of course, this doesn't change the fact that the 1% is genuinely using the "invisible hand of the marketplace" to their advantage. They're still picking your pocket while you aren't looking. And they make no bones about it. Most of us are simply meat to these folks.

When we give money to the 1% we call it investment, when we give it to everyone else they call it class warfare...and they think we have an entitlement problem.

Nothing wrong with increasing one's wealth as a matter of principle. Of course, how one does it does make a difference. I've been slogging through Greenspan's book "Age of Turbulence" and Paulson's "On the Brink" this month. Both are interesting as "house" treatments/memoirs but they are also interesting for another reason: they both practically ignore the actual economy, by which I mean the world of goods production and distribution. I mean, one expects them to be about their world of finance, and they are helpful as such. But, to suggest that these folks live in another world from the rest of us is not far off-base, imo.

In any case, I'd be happy to show Romney my tax returns if he'll show me his.

I started on that Lincoln book you recommended, my pleasure reading is off and on these days as I'm working on getting some skills up to speed for work, so most of my reading is work related at the moment.

Do what I do--take it to your Throne Room to browse at your leisure! Besides, it's the kind of book that rewards slow and repetitive examination.

If others are interested, that book is Gabor Borritt's "Lincoln and the Economics of the American Dream."
