... Captain David Frost as skipper when I reported, he went from us straight to the Sara and then picked up flag.... best skipper I ever had.
Frost was a good skipper. His exec was not very good (Drager). Drager later became the skipper of the Sara after I had left and lost his job shortly after the firing incident against a Turkish boat (I think 5 died). Should have lost his job much sooner during an incident off the coast of Libya when he was directing combat ops in CIC (now CDC ?) in which.... (ask me offline).

It was my honor to have served...

1983-2003 US Navy

Shot a shitload of Tomahawks, and other "long distance landscaping items" in the name of defending the freedoms we so love and take for granted.

Thank you to all my fellow veterans, especially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Those who came before paved the way for my chance to volunteer keeping our our freedoms. I pray that our country stops putting our warriors in harms way for the benefit of oil, or other material crap.

USN 1984-1987, USS Merrill, test platform for the Tomahawk missles, Operations Specialist.
Thank you for all that have served our country unselfishly.

USS Tarawa LHA-1, Eagle of the Sea
4 years 1975-1979
Combat Information Center Operation Special
I buried two men at sea. I dropped both of them in the Pacific Ocean. I was very proud and honored to serve them and their last request personally.

What an honor. The most memorable and fulfilling thing I did in service was as a member of the Honor Guard. Which I had the privilege of serving in numerous times.

USN, Gator Freighters, 74-78. Serving doesn't make us heroes, just citizens. Here's a real hero.

Good to see you again Homer.

My battalion had the Patriot battery TAC site on Fliegerhorst. I rented a place by the Rod N Gun club nears the nuke cooling towers.

Last I heard from some of my buddies from my unit that actually re-patriated back to the kaserne, that place (and many other former U.S. bases in Deutschland) is a weed-infested ramshackle of it's former self. 'Cause it wasn't exactly nice when I was there in the late 1980's/early 1990's!

And I remember those towers...and the enlisted club (vaguely)...did you ever party off base at the Boat or Der Fluge? Ahhh....murky memories...

You need to leave the Navy alone....everyone knows that all the gays gravitate towards the Marines, which....are also part of the Navy...hmmmm....

Yeah, some, hung out at the Rod N Gun club, b/c I could stumble home. But we moved from Bitburg to Hanua and immediately deployed to a SWA rotation. Soon as I got back I got transferred to BDE in Darmstadt, so I didn't actually spend a lot of time in Hanau.
