Lewdog
So I found out that World of Warcraft works on 3 threads now, and I decided to try and find the best value CPU for it. After doing some research I found this AMD Athlon II X3 processor that has 3 cores at 3.3 mhz, BUT is easily unlocked to a Phenom II 4 core processor. I got it for only $85. My question is, how bad is it on the processor if I get it overclocked to say 3.8 mhz? I already plan on getting a good heatsink and fan because overclocking makes it run hotter, but I guess I would like to know how much can I really have it overclocked at, and how much does it shorten the life of the processor? Ben
Any overclocking will probably shorten the life of the processor to some degree. Will it shorten it to the point that it will need replaced before it is outdated? Dunno. I will say... You will find out very vast if you OCd it too high.
