Keisler to DL, Shackelford called up

[quote]The transaction-a-day trend continues for the Redlegs as lefty Randy Keisler goes on the 15-day disabled list today with inflammation in his pitching elbow.

Fellow southpaw Brian Shackelford, who has had decidedly mediocre numbers all year at Louisville (1-6, 5.23 ERA in 31 games) but is on the 40-man roster, gets the call to replace Keisler. When Shackelford pitches, it will be his major league debut -- the fourth Red to do so this season.

I bet its because he was over used in such a short time span.
He has pitched in 8 games for a total of 19 2/3 innings since May 24th.

No other bullpen pitcher has been used like that except Belisle and thats because hes started a few games.

Heres the average innings for the bullpen:
Belisle: 1.53 (about 1 1/3 to 1 2/3 innings) (15 games 23 innings)
Belisle: 4.80 (about 4 2/3 innings) (5 games 24 innings) (Started 5 games)
Coffey: 1.17 (about 1 1/3 innings) (18 games 21.2 innings)
Keisler: 2.40 (about 2 1/3 to 2 2/3 innings) (8 games 19.2 innings)
Mercker: .82 (about 2/3 inning) (38 games 31.2 innings)
Stone: 1.20 (about 1 1/3 inning) (21 games 25.2 innings)
Wagner: 1.05 (about 1 inning) (39 games 39.1 innings)
Weathers: 1.11 (about 1 1/3 inning) (36 games 40.1 innings)

The Reds stated Keisler was going to be the long reliever, then they have him go in an pitch an inning here and there while pitching 3, 4, 6 innings other days.
