I love me some BP, but 6 years??

If true $12M a year is about right, $15M was too much.

It's great to see the team locking up the core but hope these deals don't hinder the team down the road.

so this would only make it a 5yr extension, no? Meaning the $72 million includes the $12 million he was getting paid this year.

yes, and that makes the deal much better in my opinion. At first I thought it was a 6 yr extension.

So is it a 6 year extension kicking in next year or 6 years including this year as the rosenthal tweet points toward?

yea its basically a 5yr $60 million extension. Phillips will be a little over 36 when the deal expires.
