April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120279 If it comes down to these two for the #21 pick I hope we would select Alshon Jeffery. I think he has the game we need to take this offense to the next level. Jeffery dominate the SEC for 3 years and is NFL ready now. Hill might have eye popping measurables but is nowhere near the polished football player that Jeffery is at this point in their careers. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120281 Didn't Jeffrey come to the combine over weight or something? Was he also the guy who claimed he couldn't work out or run there and all of a sudden decided to run? Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120282 I'd rather not have either of them in the first round, but gun to my head, I'm taking Jeffery because he has shown that he can do well in the best collegiate conference in the game. I worry about him blowing up though. He has some weight issues. I just don't think we can afford for Hill to take a learning year. We need production big time this year from that spot. Report

Was he also the guy who claimed he couldn't work out or run there and all of a sudden decided to run?
there were rumors that he was overweight, but he showed up at the combine at a decent 216lbs at just a shade under 6'3". For comarison sake Michael Floyd is almost identical in height and 220lbs. Jeffery was down to 213 at his pro day. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120287 this is honestly a tough one. Hill is an inexperienced route runner, but everything I've read says he's a high character guy with a strong work ethic. Jeffery is an experienced route runner, but doesn't run them crisply and there's questions about his work ethic. I don't know that either should be the pick at 21, but if I had to choose I say Hill who I think will end up being the better of the two, even if he may not be today. Report

He also torched the SEC, on the field, for 3 years. He's 6'4" and 215 lbs of pure playmaker. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120292 neither have any business being considered where we pick. jeffries is the more polished player and you could make a case for him sneaking into the bottom of the first round. he fits the prototype of what you're looking for in a #2, but the work ethic concerns should scare you off that high in the draft. i wouldn't even begin to consider hill. he's too much of a crap shoot. let some other team take those risky type players. you don't gamble with 1st round picks. that guy has a very high chance of busting out, and we can't afford that happening. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120293 Tough choice. I think Jeffery is more pro-ready, but I think Hill has Randy Moss upside without the baggage, and he is willing to block. Drafting for now, Jeffery. Drafting for career, Hill. So I guess I'll take Hill. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120294 Hill looks really uncoordinated to me in his highlights. Falls down and loses balance a lot with contact. Makes a lot of big plays when teams are stacked up in the box. I just think that he was the best underwear olympics player this year. I'd be really uneasy if we drafted him. He's not going to get a screen and throw down a 170 pound corner and see no one within 20 yards at the next level. Jeffery on the other hand has some pretty good coordination and balance. He breaks a lot of tackles and makes a lot of catches with guys hitched on him or closing in. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120296 I'm in the minority but I would love Hill to be the pick at 21. His explosive athletic ability would be a perfect fit with AJ. Lets face it, whoever our #2 receiver is will not be seeing very many double teams. Thus, we need a guy who has the explosive ability to seperate from one on one coverage. Hill can do this. I also have a great deal of confidence in Gruden, Urban and Hue (I know his title is on defense) to help accelerate the growth of someone like Hill. 6-4 wideouts who runs a 4.2 forty with a 40 inch vertical and are of high character are hard to find. April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120304 I've always been leary of players whose stock rockets up because of the combine, and clearly, Hill is that person this year. Report

April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120316 No. Hill will amount to nothing. He's this year's workout wonder. Alshon has been an animal the past 3 years. I have a feeling that he's gonna surprise a lot of people when he gets in the league. There is no reason anyone should even be CONSIDERING Hill over him Report
I call bs. More than one NFL front office type has opined that there are approx 20-25 true first round players. When you get in the second half of the first its likely there will be vast difference between team's boards. Jeffrey and Hill fit in the late first as much as any other prospect. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120341 Neither? I think Hill Is a big risk and while Jeffery had a very good career at the other USC, he really doesn't separate all that well and that would concern me at the NFL level. Same with Sanu. That said, both of guys played with shit QBs so they deserve some slack. Like someone else said, if you force me to choose, I'd take Jeffery but there are others I'd prefer. I'd be really, really surprised if Jeffery sniffed the 1st round but could see Hill because people fall in love with measurables and potential. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120350 I assume this question is about the #21pick and not #17. And I would hope and assume there are better options than either of these options at #21. So my answer is no to both at #21. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120351 One of them has a chance of slipping to us in the 2nd , then I would take either, most preferably Alshon. The QB's he has had at South Carolina have been awful to say the least. Report
April 22, 201213 yr comment_1120355 Neither. If the Bengals don't get Floyd, I'd wait until the later rounds and get Posey, McNutt, or someone else. Report

The best wr's in the NFL aren't the best athletes at their position, Calvin Johnson excluded. Fitzgerald isn't the fastest guy at WR, Greg Jennings isn't the 6'4"; the guys who know how to play the position have the most success, not workout warriors. Report

April 23, 201213 yr comment_1120501 Jeffrey has proven he can play at an elite level against the best competition in the country.. Hill is still very raw and could end up being the next Demaryus Thomas, a solid receiver but not one worthy of a mid 1st round pick. Jeffrey x2 Report
