Obamacare upheld

Its funny really.  No one here really thinks of it as Socialized Medicine.  Here it's just, "If you are sick, go to the doctor."  No worries about copays, insurance, hospital bills.  And before anyone says "What about the long waits?" I have been to the Emergency Room 3 times for kidney stones and never had to wait more than an hour.  When I lived in Florida, my ex-wife had a compound fracture in her foot and waited over two hours in the ER.

I dont live in MD, I live in VA.

Further when did you have the freedom to choose your insurance provider? Every company I've ever worked for has said "this is who your health insurance provider is"

Even further providing access to birth control is hardly putting people on it, and frankly providing access to it might just lower the number of abortions this country has.

Technically, you can decline your work's health care and either go without one at all (until next year), or go on your own.  Kaiser (in the DC area), you can pay into.  My mom has done that for over 5 years.

I get what you are saying about an employer forcing you onto one system and no one else.

ask anybody and they will tell you everything is going up not down because of Obomascare!

I just asked a squirrel and all it did was make some kind of weird "ch-ch-ch-ch-ch" sound.

I'm pretty sure that means "this lady doesn't know wtf she's talking about" in squirrel language, though.

my car insurance went up because of Obomascare..

yeah I doubt it went up because of Obamacare, likely other reasons.

CA is on top of this issue, seems to be the states will have to find a way to keep employers from skirting the rules

Anyone who didn't expect businesses to take measures like this is an idiot. It's either that, or lower wages, or raise prices. Or all of the above. Just like raising taxes on businesses, costs get passed along to employees and consumers. The other option is to move your business to a different country.

A question for everyone. Since Obamacare has been passed, and we're starting to find out what's in it away from the fog of controversy™ is it looking anything like you expected it to look? Is it going to do the things you wanted it to do, or is the jury still out?

Looks like a clusterfuck to me, and you and I are the cluster that's going to be fucked. I could be wrong though, someone convince me why this is a good thing. As I understand it, millions will still be uninsured, and those of us who've always had insurance are going to be limited on our choices and prices will most likely go up. I think it's designed that way to get us to the point where single payer will be the only option. I know some of you are all for that, but what little actual debate there was about it, that's not how it was sold (rammed through).

I could probably give you Jamie's response, I'm interested in what others think. Of course that doesn't mean Jamie can't respond, by all means do, but I'm hoping to get some others' thoughts.

This comes from a friend of mine who is a Harvard grad and an economist, I expect you to reject it because you know..."socialism"
