Billy Hamilton is soooo fast, he CAN steal first base.

:D

Holy Hell
Nothing was quite like April 20. It was 0-0, bottom of the ninth. Hamilton singled, then stole second and third. With one out and the infield drawn in, Juan Duran hit a pop-up. Second baseman Carter Jurica, a San Francisco prospect, wheeled back and caught the ball. Hamilton tagged up and went. On a pop-up to second. And he scored.
There was a story on him last year from his HS days where he scored on a sacrifice fly to left field from SECOND base.

Judging by his 25 errors in single A, it appears that Mr. Hamilton has a long way to go before he is a MLB SS.

He may never be a MLB SS. There is a lot of speculation that he will be a CF for the Reds.

I don't know; all those stolen bases mean he must be getting on base a lot. Dusty would never go for it. He needs to work on his strikeouts if he wants to make it to the bigs.

Billy Hamilton, minor league Albert Einstein of speed, hit an inside-the-park HR today. 13.8 secs on the trot. I'm speechless (h/t [s]@[/s]ctrent)

Anyone else notice #44 in the dugout? That was cool...

That's about equivalent to a 4.6 40, but doing it around corners.

Will Dusty run him enough when he gets up here? I still think he needs to run Drew more (when he does manage to get on).

Jesus

Or should I say Jobu?

Here's a thought. Do you consider bringing Hamilton up BEFORE the roster expansion? The havoc he wrecks on the base paths could be a weapon in the post season.

I don't rush him at all. If he can prove over the next few weeks he can hit at double A (he's currently hitting .238) then you maybe promote him to AAA. If he does well at AAA, maybe you consider a September callup.

I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize his development.

X2
I'm talking STRICTLY as a pinch runner. There's a lot of speculation they may do that in September. A day or 2 early so we can have him for the playoffs might not be a bad thing.

yea, but you're just stunting his development to bring him up and put him on the bench for 8 innings a game.

His season will be all but over most likely.
