MichaelWeston
I have lost complete interest in it. It's all one on one, discretionary travel and foul calling based on the level of the players popularity and egos driven more by their "brand" then anything else. When you played at recess and were 8 years old you picked teams and tried to make things fair so that you did not always win. What would be the fun in rigging everything to know you would win? The NBA is like taking the 3 tallest kids on the playground and putting them on a team, then saying that you can only score points in the paint. It puts all the best players on 5 teams and then changes the rules to ensure their success.

-GoBengals-
depends what you watched, the finals were pathetic, but the palyoffs were very good, and the season was actually a fun one..
MichaelWeston
I just watched bits and pieces of it all. The game is just not basketball the way I like to see it played.
-GoBengals-
basketball is one of the few sports that you have players so good on the court the game changes. too many goliaths and not many davids. the rare jeremy lin here or there, being a nuggets fan out here is a team full of davids, its fun to watch, i do notice all of the primetime games o the weekend and espn, always show the big shot teams and are always officiated as to create drama or masomeone look superhuman... i also dislike those games.. but being a fan with a local team to root for that gets to the palyoffs with no a-holes on the team.. is very fun... went to every home palyoff game against the lakers.. had a BlasT. MichaelWeston
Im not sure but that sounds like a setting where I might be able to like it. The negative is still that they dont try for 3 quarters Playoffs would be fun
-GoBengals-
Im not sure but that sounds like a setting where I might be able to like it. The negative is still that they dont try for 3 quarters Playoffs would be fun
most teams that have a super star plater play an offense that puts the ball in his hands on virtually every posession, in college you rarely see a player dominate, they all skipped college. on teams with no proven superstar, you see a lot more screens and give n go offense, and on teams with a strong big man, you see more dump down and kick out offensive schemes where you try to employ more spot shooters around the big man, if your star is a steve nash then you want guys who can move around AND guys who can shoot as he can distribute to anyone anywhere.. etc there are huge differences in the teams styles, strngths weaknesses, and how they go about winning games. there is as much of a game of chess on an NBA court as there is on an nfl field, you just have a LOT more games. NBA is somewhere between baseball and football as far as intensity. in baseball you can get swept 3 straight by a division rival (see reds vs brewers this week) and it doesnt really mean a damn thing. in football you can lose 1 game and be all but screwed for the season if its a division game. you have guys take games off in the nba, just like you have guys half ass on the football field. IMO, the not trying for 3 qtrs thought is in the viewers head(it was in mine too). having seen reggie miller score like 14 points in 22 seconds to win a game and teams come back fom being down 15 points with 5 minutes left, the viewer isnt invested in the game until the 4th qtr. they arent running any faster in the 4th, they arent taking safer shots or crazier shots, but at that point its "crunch time" and the viewer intensity is in full force... looking at a few box scores, the 1st and 3rd qtr are the highest scoring ones in many games. a friend of mine works for an NBA team, so being able to chit chat about the game with someone who talks with the coaches, players, staff, etc has made me a bigger fan and opens your eyes to different things going on within any given team. being a hardcore football fan makes basketball seem little more lame. seeing a player run down and miss a 12 ft jumper and the other team get the rebound is about as exciting as a run up the middle for no gain in the first qtr of a football game. etc... i will admit some of the first nba games i went to were ESPN primetime showdown and nba playoffs and finals games, so i got hooked during the most exciting games, but the fun stayed with me from there. i will probably go to 15+ nuggets games this year.. on a weeknight you can get $50 tickets for $12 on stubhub unless the lakers or heat are in town. liking the nba is a tough sell on a football forum. there are similarities, like with say peyton manning, he didnt need the flashy receivers like TO and brandon marshal, ec, if he had 3 guys who ran perfect routes, he was just ass dangerous. if the nba team has a guy who can get assists and has good vision, and a god who can block and crash boards, and a good shooter, they can run with a ream who has a kobe bryant or dwayne wade all day.. my favorite player current on the nuggets here is Kenneth Faried, went to morehead state in KY, the guy is a monster. look up some youtube highlights.. they call him the Manimal. BigDawgBengal
Love watching Faried play. I have met him several times. Nice guy. He is not the most talented player on the floor but he plays his butt and just out plays everyone. He will have a very good career.

bengals8580
If you think the NBA is awful I'd love to see the word you use for college basketball. The actual basketball in college is terrible. There is 0 mid range game in college. It's 3s, free throws, and put backs off of missed layups. The tournament is awesome, and they have the atmosphere, but the actual on court product of college basketball is pretty damn boring just bad.
