Go to KFC?

Would if I liked how they cooked their chicken... but, IMO, Chick Fil A has the best fast food chicken sandwiches and their service is second to none to their clientele.

I don't care if Barack Obama himself owned McDonald's - if that is what I wanted that is what I'd get. Getting beyond tired of the bullshit about boycotting this, boycotting that... it wasn't even like the guy came out and offered the opinion - he was sought out and asked for it.

Gay marriage doesn't bother me in the slightest. It does irk me when Dan Cathy gets accused of being a hateful bigot for expressing his beliefs. As a matter of fact I've seen nothing but pure hate and vitriol from gay marriage advocates for the guy and his company. Lots of hypocrisy going on here in the name of equality and righteousness.

It would be one thing if he espouted those views in his own belief system, it's quite another when he uses his monetary influence to prevent other citizens their rights as citizens.

If he chooses to be a bigot, thats one thing, but this goes a bit deeper than that imo

Here are five reasons why Chick-fil-A isn't what you think:
1) Chick-fil-A has donated at least $5 million to organizations (including a certified hate group) that, among other things, depict gay people as pedophiles, want to make "gay behavior" illegal, and even say gay people should be "exported" out of America.
Even if you oppose same-sex marriage, do you really want to support a company that advocates putting gay people in jail, or "exporting" them, just because they're gay?
2) Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy didn't merely say he supports traditional marriage. Dan Cathy said if you support gay marriage, you "are inviting God's judgment on our nation," and that we "shake our fist at Him" when we do. Dan Cathy also said same-sex marriage is the result of a "deprived" mind and called it "twisted up kind of stuff."
Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you really think gay marriage is "inviting God's judgment on our nation"? Haven't we all heard enough blame from those who claim to speak for the Lord, like after Katrina or, more recently, after the shooting in Aurora, Colo.?
3) Chick-fil-A supports organizations that have claimed they can change gay people into straight people -- "pray away the gay" -- despite the fact that practically every major medical organization has stated that this is not only impossible but dangerous and harmful.
Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you support fake "science" that is known to harm the very people it claims to help?
4) The media keep saying Chick-fil-A has never discriminated, but the truth is that Chick-fil-A has been sued over a dozen times for employment discrimination. That's what a leading business publication, Forbes, stated in 2007, when they also called Chick-fil-A a "cult" and reported that Chick-fil-A's founder and CEO Truett Cathy said he wanted to hire married people because they are more industrious and productive. Truett Cathy has also said he would probably fire someone who "has been sinful or done something harmful to their family members."
Even if you don't support same-sex marriage, do you want to support what some call a "cult" whose CEO says he would fire employees for "being sinful"?
5) Chick-fil-A is just exercising their First Amendment rights by running a business based on the Bible, right? Wrong. There's a line between the "free exercise of religion" and violating the law. If Chick-fil-A is violating the law by discriminating against gay people, or by firing women so that they can be "stay home" moms, as one woman who is suing Chick-fil-A says in court documents, that's not exercising religious expression or free speech, and that's not a First Amendment issue. It may be, if the court decides, a violation of the law.

Does this mean we can not use the following companies who fought to defeat prop 8 ? Google (GOOG), Apple (AAPL), Intuit (INTU), Adobe Systems (ADBE) and eBay (EBAY).... While we're at it we might want to re-evaluate what religions we allow to operate in America.... 1/2 :ninja:

...and who is this mayor in Boston that doesn't support a chick fil a being built ?

Mayor Menino “sold” $2 million worth of city property to the ISB for $175,000, despite their well-documented links to Muslim extremism. The mosque teaches a form of Islam that condemns homosexuals to death.

I don't care. Their chicken sandwiches are good. And Jamie, aren't you a believer in a religion that teaches that homosexuality is a sin? You should like Chick-fil-A! They even close on Sundays on God's day of rest!

No bung I fall more in line with this Christan view

But even if I did believe that viewpoint it doesn't give me the right to deny others their rights as citizens

Whose rights were being denied ? (In this case of Chicken against the LBGT)

The Mayor in Boston for being against a legal business opening an operation because he doesn't agree with their view / opinion ? Or the same mayor allowing an Islamic organization, with known extremism ties, to operate and give them $2 million worth of city property for $175,000 ? I'm against the double standard being perpetuated here. I will still eat Ben & Jerry icecream and I don't necessarily agree with their viewpoints. However, I will not agree with anyone who decides to remove them from operating freely just because they have a different viewpoint. At this point I expect someone will once again point out that Chick Fil A has 6 or 7 discrimination suits against them. Please before this is harped on again, research at least 5 or 10 fast food companies and report how many discrimination suits they have.

One last note. Look at Chicago and tell me why the Nation of Islam can open a restaurant but Chick Fil A has problems ?

You think it might have something to do with the fact that Marcus Garvey centered his ops in Chicago?

In a similar vein: How come only black folks got lynched in the South? Why couldn't they string up a WASP or two?

FWIW I think its ridiculous for a mayor of a city to not allow Chick Fil A to come to their city....if thats what was happening I have not been paying much attention....I also think its ridiculous that gays can't marry and that people care enough to donate 5 million dollars to try to make someone else less happy.

Lots of companies donate towards the LGBT groups also. Maybe not the same amounts but it does happen. Is it fair ? It's not for me to tell a legitimate business how to do a legal transfer of funds.

In regards to the mayor, do you hear an uproar from the masses on what is discrimination ? No. It's happening in Boston, Chicago, and soon to be Louisville. I'm sure there are other cities with similar situations.

When a person can not have an opinion or spend their money within the legal confines of the law, it is time I consider where this world is coming to.
