The most noticeable will be immediately experienced on Opening Day, when the Reds open the season on April 1 vs. an American League club in the Angels. With the Astros moving from the National League Central to the AL West next season, there will be 15 teams in both leagues -- meaning at least one Interleague game each day. After two years of being played on a Thursday, Opening Day will return to a Monday, but Cincinnati will also maintain its tradition of opening the season at home. Following an off-day, the Reds will play the Angels again on April 3-4 before hosting the Nationals on the first weekend from April 5-7. One thing that won't change is the unbalanced schedule that gives the Reds a heavy blend against the now four remaining NL Central rivals. There will be 19 games each against St. Louis, Milwaukee, Chicago and Pittsburgh. The Reds' first road trip will be against the Cardinals and Pirates from April 8-14. The Ohio Cup rivalry series vs. the Indians will be back but with a changed feature as well. The teams will meet for a total of four games in back-to-back two-game series. On Monday and Tuesday, May 27-28, the games will be held at Great American Ball Park, while the May 29-30 games will be held at Progressive Field. Other AL clubs on the Reds' schedule are a road trip at Oakland and Texas from June 25-30, and home series against the Mariners from July 5-7, and the A's from Aug. 6-7. The first Reds-Astros Interleague meeting will happen in Houston this season from Sept. 16-18. There will be a 10-day, 10-game road trip on the West Coast against the Giants, Dodgers and Padres from July 22-31. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
