Hearing Ludwick deal is done. Won't be official until physical. [s]#[/s]reds

Cool.

Let's hope this isn't like Butch to CU.

2 years, 15 million with a mutual option for year 3. Nice deal. Lot of smoke around Jack Hannahan, which I would assume means Scott won't be back next year.

Also word is that Jocketty won't pursue Bourne until his price tag comes down, which could be VERY soon. Kind of hope we can come in and swoop him up for cheap.

Id offer the rockies Stubbs and Leake and maybe a prospect for Fowler.

They don't need a long term answer in CF. They need a stopgap for a year or 2. I wouldn't give up that much for a stop gap.

Nobody knows for sure that Hamilton is going to be a great Major league CF. And even if he is, with Ludwick signing a two year deal, you could always move fowler to LF in 2 years after ludwick is done.

Im not really that worried about 2014-2015 right now. We can win a world series this year. I wouldnt mortgage the future for it, but if you have a chance to add that last missing piece I think you do it.

I'm fully with you. Plus, I don't think Stubbs and Leake is considered "much". Both are projected to make about 3 million yet both are completely replaceable.

Reds draft pick Mason Felt in critical condition, father passes away after one-car accident

We have more unfortunate news to pass along on what has already been a sad Sunday here at Big League Stew.

The Cincinnati Reds have confirmed a Jennifer Rios report in San Angelo Standard-Times that their 2012 fifth round draft pick, Mason Felt, 18, was critically injured in a one-car accident on Saturday morning just outside of Ozona, Texas.
The accident happened a little after 10 a.m. on Interstate 10, according to Rios' report. Felt, who was driving his 2004 Ford F-150 truck, began drifting into the shoulder and then over corrected, causing him to cross over both lanes of traffic and then flipped over.
He's now considered to be in critical, but stable condition. Unfortunately, his father, Roger Felt, 51, was pronounced dead at the seen. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

As we noted, Mason Felt, a left-handed pitcher out of Hoschton, GA, was the 172nd overall pick in this past June's amateur draft. He elected to sign with the Reds for $317,800, rather than attend Oregon State where he was headed on baseball scholarship. As many aspiring baseball players do, he was following in the footsteps of his father, who spent five seasons in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization during the early 80s.

Our thoughts are with the Felt family at this time.

ESPN just picked teams that draw big ratings. The Reds don't draw great national TV ratings. The Angles, Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers and Braves are the ones that get the ratings. If the Reds are in the race in August or September they will probably get moved to Sunday night.

Actually I read something where we had the best ratings/household in all of MLB last year...or something like that.

It's probably local ratings. The Reds always do well in local ratings. They are always in the top five in MLB in local household ratings.
