Star Wars 7

Yes he has definitely done some parts that required makeup. Then again I did see the Hunter S. Thompson movies "The Rum Diary" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas."

I loved the movie "Donnie Brascoe." He's a good friend of Tim Burton so he has done a lot of roles in his movies as a makeup painted freak.

Another favorite movie of his was "The Tourist." It was ok, but I think at the end there were so much left to explain, and that wasn't done well. Oh and it had Angelina Jolie in it. She's still sexy even though many believe her and brother used to jump in the sheets together.

props to Lucas who said he intends to donate the majority of the $4 billion to charity.

good stuff. it's such a crazy amount of money that even if he got rid of half his family is taken care of in luxury for generations.

sounds like you aren't going to get your wish. Source says the Zahn trilogy won't be involved.

I imagine maybe part of it is they don't want to have to try to re-cast iconic characters like Luke, Leia and Han. Those actors would be scruitinized and behind the 8 ball from the very get go.

Yeah not that surprised, its a great story though.

They could recast those charcters and I'd be disappointed if they didnt in at least minor roles but they got to find actors that could pull it off, I thought ewan mcgregor did a good job as Obi-Wan.....

or they could make the story so far ahead in time that they could use the original actors playing their parts in some fashion

read this the other day. Found it interesting though I don't know how reliable it is.
While researching his book, Dale Pollock, author of the unauthorized Lucas biography, “Skywalking: The Life And Films Of George Lucas,” was allowed to read the outlines to the 12 stories written by the filmmaker but was required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

“It was originally a 12-part saga,” Pollock told TheWrap. “The three most exciting stories were 7, 8 and 9. They had propulsive action, really interesting new worlds, new characters. I remember thinking, ‘I want to see these 3 movies.’”
Disney bought Lucasfilm on Tuesday for $4.05 billion and announced a plan to release at least three new “Star Wars” films, starting in 2015.
Pollock researched the book in the 1980s and interviewed Lucas some 80 times. Nonetheless, Lucas was not a fan, and the two no longer have a relationship. The book was first published in 1983 and re-released in 1999. Pollock is a professor of cinema studies at the University of North Carolina's School of Filmmaking.

For his part, Pollock deems the three “Star Wars” prequels – which made hundreds of millions at the box office but were disdained by many fans of the original – “dreadful. I think they’re horrible. For me, the first one is the worst. Maybe the second prequel is better one. I didn’t like the third one at all.”
He added: “When he did the three prequels, he was in a Lucas vacuum. No one saw the scripts [in advance], they were dreadful screenplays. I thought they seemed dry. They were medieval in terms of court intrigue. And it was a weird way to start out the story.”
The next in the series, he said, involve Luke Skywalker in his 30s and 40s, but Lucas was unlikely to turn to Mark Hamill, who played Luke in the original but whose performance left the director dissatisfied.
“They will need an older Luke Skywalker,” Pollock said.
Looks like Michael Arndt, the writer of Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine, and the upcoming Hunger Games sequel, among other things, is expected to write Episode 7 and has already written a 40 page treatment for Disney.
Did he write anything good?

WHAT?

As a HUGE fan of animated movies, I take massive exception to that.

to each their own. And he won an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine.

Apparently he's considered a Star Wars expert to boot, and has given multiple lectures about the films at film festivals.

I think it says something that other guys who are also up for the gig like Damon Lindelof are endorsing the move.

I guess if you limit the genre to American made family films, the Toy Story series is pretty good.. But to say it's the best of all time is kind of absurd if you are actually into the genre of animated films. I have to admit I found little miss sunshine a fun watch, but I don't equate the style of either of these films to what I want out of a Star Wars movie.

doesn't necessarily mean that is the style you'll see. Take director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, The Iron Giant) for example. He had pretty much only done animated films before Mission Impossible 4, which turned out to be pretty good. He's also being considered for Star Wars 7.

Funny you mentioned The Iron Giant, as it was near the top of my list of American animated films I would put solidly over TS3.

I also think direction is a skill which more easily transcends genre.. Writing tends to lend itself more to a particular style. Not that this guy isn't capable.

An article on yahoo says the original cast might want in on the new films. Mark Hamill probably does for sure, how else is he making money? Carrie Fisher is about to Princess Leyas at this point. Harrison Ford is old but he's still got chops. I wonder if they could do like they did with Jeff Bridges in Tron and make them longer younger for #7, a little older for #8, and be themselves in #9?

Hamill does a ton of voicework these days...
