I agree on both counts.  Though I do have this sinking feeling that Jones will do just that a bit - right into the Steelers laps.  IMO they are going to be in competition with us for a lot of the same players.  They could really use a S, LBs, WR and RB (if they don't resign their Mendenhall and Dwyer).

If we go LB in first, I think Teo and Ogletree would be more likely.

 

Also, can't see us taking Lattimore in 3rd, after taking one at 2b.  Maybe in the 5th or later for depth.

Bernard is this year's Lamar Miller to me.  A lot of places love him, but I just don't see it.

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -Attention Jon Gruden fans: ESPN announced Thursday that former South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore will appear on Gruden's QB Camp just before the 2013 NFL Draft.

Gruden's series of specials usually features the top quarterback picks in the draft, but Gruden and ESPN have decided to air specials with three non-quarterbacks this season on top of the usual gallery of would-be NFL quarterbacks.

 

Lattimore, along with Notre Dame's Manti Te'o and Texas A&M's Luke Joeckle, have been chosen to appear.

 

Expect Gruden to mention Spider 2 Y Banana once or twice during these specials, as the ex-coach's lexicon of nonsensical football lingo has become part of his  charm.

Lattimore declared for the draft at the end of the 2012 season after suffering from a second knee injury that ended his career with at South Carolina.

 

The NFL Draft is April 25. While Lattimore's special does not have a specific date and air time just yet, Gruden's QB Camp starts Thursday, April 4 at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN2.

I've been hearing about that injury being a dislocation lately.  That's not something that they can hide medically, so I guess we'll have to see.  If it really is a recoverable injury, I don't see him falling below the third round.

 

This is really not a bad draft to trade down and pick up an extra third...

Would prefer Brown and Cyrpien respectively, to Ogletree and Elam.  Also Zavier Gooden is a athletic but we need LB depth that can actually cover the opposition in the open field.  Also, I like Dion Sims but I can't see him getting past round 5.

Hmm, I watched a few games of Cyprien's and didn't love what I saw.  As for Brown, he remains one of the great enigmas of the draft for me.  I keep thinking I need to watch more of him to see what all the fuss is about.  If someone can point me to a couple of game tapes that would be great.

 

I love Elam, simply because I think he brings a demeanor we desperately want in our back 7.  We're getting a few of those guys (I think Reggie Nelson has it, Kirkpatrick has it, Adam Jones has it, and Burfict has it), but that's another spot I'd love to see it.  Truth is, he probably doesn't make it to 37 though.

 

As for Gooden, I liked his coverage skills in the Senior Bowl (he intercepted a pass IIRC), and he's certainly the one LB of the bunch who has the real speed to cover.  I can't figure out why he's not getting higher ratings, but he seems to fall around where I had him - and so is a good value IMO.

 

I hear you on Sims.  After his pro day I think he climbs up.  Sounds like the lost weight really did things for him.  Hayes was there to work him out, and knowing that they are looking at Kellen Davis I could see them opting for the younger version.

 

I think our draft is really going to fall entirely according to how we go with that first pick.  The way the value in this one is laid out, it looks like we'll pretty much have most of our decisions made for us on a need/value level after that.  Of course, as someone said elsewhere today, it's fun because it's so full of surprises.

My thinking with Schwenke reflects my bias toward wanting a better Center, but I also think, giving that he has AMAZING feet and, surprisingly good size at 6-4 315, that he would also make a great swing guy for LG.  Frankly, I'd rather get Jonathan Cooper and plug him in at Center and call it a day.  I expect Wharton to be back and that's a line I'd like to see go into battle.

Trade out Arthur Brown with one of the WR's who will be available (Allen, Hunter, Hopkins, Woods) and that would be a home run.

That would only work if it were a guy like Da'Rick Rogers.  Otherwise to get any impact from a WR, I think you'd have to switch out the Brown Pick.  Frankly, if you knew you could get Green in the 3rd I'd switch out picking him for Brown with 2b straight up.  Better value, IMO.

I mostly agree.  I guess I simply keep assuming that we are going to bring Howard back in at some point.  There's always the possibility that the draft allows us to commit more fully to the youth movement.  The big thing, however, is speed.  Howard has a lot of it and the WLB's in this draft don't have much.  They're all in the 4.7 range.  

 

Thomas Howard ran a 4.42.  

I would love to hear how he is progressing from his injury.
