Free Agency is OPEN

Much older than Andre but this helps us out in negotiations. Clabo isn't a bad option if Andre splits either.

Will be 32 in October.  Pretty solid player. Pick him up for fair price, draft Menelik Watson and drive on.

Safety Usama Young, who spent the last two seasons with Cleveland, has visited the Bengals.

A league source said today that safety Usama Young, a seventh-year free agent, has visited the Bengals.

Young spent last two seasons with Cleveland. He played in 13 games with 12 starts last season for the Browns and tied for the team lead with three INTs, including one in the Bengals’ Oct. 14 loss at Cleveland. He had 52 tackles, with seven passes defensed and one fumble recovery. He was placed Dec. 26 on the Reserve/Injured list with a thumb injury.

Young entered the NFL in 2007 as a third-round draft choice of New Orleans, where he played four seasons before joining Cleveland.

the bengals were very high on usama young when he was going through the draft process. Marvin does not forget. Young is a CB/FS tweener-a lot like Nelson.

Good call. I remember the rumors they liked him a lot as well.

One of the interesting things about paying close attention to the pre draft process is that the Bengals seem to gravitate back towards these guys they reportedly were interested in drafting. Reggie Nelson and Manny Lawson are 2 good examples. The rumors were that both were on the Bengals 1st round short list. Lawson went a pick or 2 ahead of us and we instead took Jonathan Joseph. Nelson we passed on for Leon Hall, but Marvin gave the impression in his PC after the pick that he would have been happy with any of Revis, Hall or Nelson.

Another example was Derrick Harvey. The rumor was that he was our draft target at #9 but Jacksonville traded up to 8 and took him so we settled for Keith Rivers. We brought Harvey in for a look last year.

yep, a lot of the guys they end up eventually grabbing in free agency are former draft picks they were high on.  Lawson, Nelson, Mays, Howard.  If they had a need at DT I bet Sedrick Ellis, who's still a free agent, would have been in here by now. They tried to trade for Aaron Curry before he went to Oakland.

I'm sure it happens with other teams to, but its noticeable to us Bengals fans.
