July 12, 200520 yr comment_113689 As most know, the NBA recently changed the draft eligability rule. As a result, all the players who would have gone right into the NBA will now play college hoops for 1 year, and then enter the draft. How many of those players will really give a damn about getting their degree in 6 years. This could impact graduation rates, and therefore, potentially schollarships. Not across the board, of course, as there are only 5 or so players who go right into the NBA from high school a year. My question is, if enough of the "right" schools (UK, Kansas, UCLA, Duke, UNC, etc.), who would be more likely to get the great players, start losing scholarships due to the drop in graduation rate, do you think the Academic Progress rule will change? Do you think there will be enough players to make a difference? Do you think schools will only try for one of these guys every few years? Report
