My team name is Admiral General Aladeen

We can keep one player every year in this league. I am in 2 leagues. The other is a keeper league like the real NFL with salary cap and all. But this is just the regular one like most of you are in but you get to keep one player so I kept AP. Anyways, let me start by explaining this. My sister and my brother got into an argument so I had to get in between them and tell them both to shut the fuck up finally which cause me to miss the first 8 minutes of my draft. So the computer automatically picked Steven Jackson for me in the 2nd and Matt Forte in the 3rd which I think I can live with. But, I feel like it went against my strategy of drafting a RB 1st, WR 2nd and a QB 3rd. But I was lucky enough to get Matt Ryan in the 4th and get what I can get WR wise moving forward. Matt Ryan got me to the Superbowl last year and I lost to Bear Unit which sucked but I think if any of the New England guys pan out or DeAndre Hopkins I could be ok in that position. I also think if either Wes Welker or Torry Smith pan out that I'll be alright. So, how do you guys like my team?

Damn you gotta a good squad bro for real.

I like it.. I wish I had one more really good receiver. Hopefully that guy can be Sanu..

I think you have a pretty good squad too.. RB's are great.. I think that auto pick helped you out. lol

Receivers are gonna be a wait and see thing for you... and only having Sudfeld for TE might be a little scary.

BASIC scoring league (one of the older formats y'all might not be familiar with: 6 pts for TDs, 3 pts for QB Tds, FG=3, XP=1 - that's it!)

12 teams

12 player rosters (very shallow!)
Starters = QB RB WR TE K + 2 Flex (R/W/T)

I drafted 6th.

First round RB run, starting with AP.  Couldn't believe my luck when Doug Martin fell to me!  The guy picking 4th sealed it by reaching for Alfred Morris.

Second round: the 12 picks after my 1st should've been RB-heavy, but after 3 straight RBs, the last 3 owners picked up 2 QBs, 3 WRs and only 1 RB between them.  By the time it got back to me, there were still 9 quality 2nd-tier RBs before the big dropoff still on the board.  Thinking it unlikely that the guys in the 1-5 spots (10 picks between them) would exhaust all 9 of those RBs, I shocked the league by taking Jimmy Graham (I *never* take TEs until the very end).  Seeing the guy picking after me post "FUCK!" made it worthwhile.  The guy who picked 2 spots before me tested the TE pool but he took Gronkowski - a blunder IMO.  Gronk is flying solo this year (no Hernandez), and may miss much of the first 2 weeks due to injury.  He would be the clear #2 TE betwen Graham and the Pelaton, but with his question marks I see little upside potential and a decent chance that he may get dragged down into the throng of mediocre TEs.

Third round: I lucked out again, the 10 picks after my Graham selection saw only TWO of the decent RBs go off the board as owners started snapping up QBs and WRs.  I took the Giants' David Wilson (value pick, he should've been gone by Round 2).

Fourth round:  Seven of the final 8 RBs went before this pick, leaving Lamar Miller on the board, all alone before the big gap.  Since I can flex a 3-RB lineup, since he, Wilson and Martin are all off on different weeks, and since the guys picking 1-5 were very thin at RB, I knew that this would be the last chance to pick up a quality RB.  Mine.

Fifth round: Might have been my first mistake.  I was looking at either a WR (Bowe and Decker were tops on my board) or a QB (Kaepernick, then a decent drop-off).  Coming into the draft I was figuring that I would settle for a bottom-feeder QB in the 8th-9th round, draft a paired backup QB in the next round, then play QBBC and take whichever one's matchup was better.  I liked Kaepernick, but I also like the potential that Vick shows - especially the awful pass defenses he will face in the first three weeks (Redkins, Chargers, Chiefs).  In fact, I was kinda eyeing a Vick with the Raiders' Pryor as backup, since his week 4-6 opponents were the same teams (Redskins, Chargers, Chiefs).  Anyway, I convinced myself that I would be okay without Kaepernick and that targeting a QB later in the draft wouldn't sink my season so I took Bowe.  Kaepernick went with the next pick - to a division foe no less.  Guess we'll see if the wait-for-a-QB theory works out, since if it doesn't it'll hurt!

Sixth round: I looked carefully at Bowe's schedule - specifically targeting his bye week and the 4 weeks he would be facing his toughest opponents - and made a list of 3 "quality" backup WRs who should pair well with him.  Recall, I'd be using both of my flex spots for RBs, so I would only need to start one WR weekly.  Having a decent backup whose schedule compliments Bowe would let me maximize the points from that position.  The list of guys were 1-Antonio Brown, 2-Pierre Garcon, and  3-Cecil Shorts.  I figured at least one, maybe two of them would be available in round 7, so I put the list aside for now.  The Kaepernick miss in round 5 committed me to the path of a late round QB, it was WAY too early to even look at K, so this left me with taking a 4th RB.  The best available player was Mark Ingram.  I was a little hesitant to pull the trigger, seeing as how the Saints had employed a frustrating RBBC setup for the past 2-3 years.  But I have a feeling that Ingram will get the majority of carries, and if preseason is any indication he may be their designated scorer, so his stock was moving up.  Besides, he would be my #1 bench warmer and would only see the field during a bye week or if his matchup was significantly more tasty than my RB3 (Lamar Miller) was facing.  The clincher was the bye situation - just like my RB1-3 players, this RB4 would ALSO have his own bye week, so notwithstanding any injuries, I would have 3 of my 4 RBs available every week.  Okay - that's a good fit.  I took Ingram.

Seventh round: Garcon was taken, and I sensed a decent chance that Brown and Shorts would neither one make it to my 8th pick, so I took Antonio Brown.  Turns out Shorts DID make it to my 8th, but Brown has more upside and his complimentary opponents (Bills, Jets, Raiders) during Bowe's bye/tough weeks were better than Shorts' opponents (Broncos, 49ers, Titans) during the same span.  Advantage: Brown

Eighth round: Romo, Dalton, Eli, and Vick were all on the board, and only one of the 1-5 teams was still without a QB.  Figuring him to take one and 1-2 of the others to take a backup (knowing that I hadn't taken one yet), I figured at least one would still be there in Round 9.  My RBs were set, my WRs were set, too soon to take a QB or PK.  What the hell, I'll take Jermichael Finley - his schedule dovetails great with Graham's, and if I have an untimely injury there's nothing to prevent me from playing two TEs.  More than likely, tho, once I get past the Saints' bye week I would look to trade Finley for more WR depth.

Ninth round: Romo and Dalton went away.  Eli or Vick?  Eli or Vick?  I had built a solid core team at my other positions, and had consciously decided to roll the dice with my QB position, so I took the player with greater upside potential.  Michael Vick.  Woof!

Tenth round: Backup QB time.  Eli, Rivers, and the Rapist all went.  I had my choice of Cutler, Pryor or Bradford.  My previous Vick/Pryor observations notwithstanding, I decided to go more conservative with my backup, knowing that a Vick injury or benching would leave me with this guy for the rest of the season.  The obvious choice here was Bradford, IMO.

Eleventh round: Time to take a flyer on a 5th RB.  There isn't an obvious handcuff for Doug Martin, David Wilson, or Lamar Miller, and didn't see any obvious reason to get another Saint RB - I had gone all-in with Ingram.  Everybody on the board was a situational player, so I went with Ben Tate.  Might be trade bait for Foster's owner, and if he could repeat his 2011 production he might be a decent backup RB in his own right.

Twelfth round: Took a kicker with a LATE bye - Steven Hauschkika (or however the hell you spell it).  Seattle, week 12.  I'll play him for 11 weeks, then drop him for a replacement K in week 12 since all of the free agents will have already had their bye by then.

The roster:

QB: Vick/M Bradford/S

RB: Martin/D Wilson/D Miller/L Ingram Tate/B

WR: Bowe/D Brown/A

TE: Graham/J Finley/J

PK: Hauschka/S

Some comments:

Old school!

We like your overall strength at the traditionally less important positions, but make no mistake about it: this team is about strength at the running back position. And we think it will be the league favorite or very close to it. Somewhere Terrell Davis is smiling.

Players we particularly like on this team include Jermichael Finley, David Wilson, Mark Ingram, Lamar Miller, and Ben Tate. We have all these guys ranked ahead of where they are typically being drafted.

Bottom line: This team is a virtual lock to go to the playoffs

QB Summary:

We have Michael Vick rated #14 among quarterbacks, so we're not even sold on him as a fantasy starter in your league. And we're not sure that Sam Bradford (our #20-rated QB) is likely to provide much help.

Incidentally, these two have a terrific combined schedule and a nice playoff schedule too. If you simply played the one with the better matchup each week, this is the schedule you'd face:

WAS | SD | KC | DEN | JAX | TB | DAL | NYG | TEN | IND | WAS | CHI | SF | DET | NO | TB

RB Summary:

Doug Martin is a solid choice as a top running back. He's our #5 RB, so you're ahead of most teams there. Tough to do better than David Wilson at RB2; he's a likely flex starter. Lamar Miller is also a very nice RB3 --- also probably a frequent flex contributor. Tough to do better than Mark Ingram at RB4. We also very much approve of the selection of Ben Tate, and not just because you can hold the Arian Foster owner hostage. He's a fine fifth running back in his own right.

WR Summary:

We have Dwayne Bowe ranked #7 at the position. So while he's passable as a first receiver, he doesn't look particularly thrilling. And we also have some doubts about whether your depth at WR is going to make up for it, so this could be an area of some concern. Antonio Brown should serve as a very solid second receiver.

TE Summary:

As you are well aware, Jimmy Graham is an elite tight end. We have him ranked first overall at the position. He's about 1.6 points per game better than an average starting TE in this league. We also think Jermichael Finley is a starting quality tight end in this league. He's a luxury.

I think the 2013 season will hinge on two things - the QB experiment and injuries to my 6-pointers, particularly at WR.  I can drop Finley or Tate if I need depth at WR - let's hope that doesn't happen.
