Mock offseason

Recommended Posts

Re-sign:

OT Anthony Collins - Our line was at it's best when Whit was a LG and Collins at LT. He has earned this chance.

FB Chris Pressley - I know it's not really a re-signing but whatever. With Hue at OC we see a change back to good old fashioned power football.

WR Andrew Hawkins - He's a RFA so I doubt he goes anywhere.

C/G Mike Pollak - He was very good as a spot starter and I think he should be given a fair shot at supplanting Cook.

OLB Vincent Rey - Made a huge impact in a limited role on defense. Good special teamer.  RFA so he'll be back.

S Taylor Mays - He made enough improvements in the little we saw of him this year to get another shot.

WR Dane Sanzenbacher - Looked good in very limited opportunities.

Sign:

RB Darren McFadden - Seems a pretty likely pick up to me. Ties to Hue, young, will be cheap, huge upside. I don't think he's necessarily a great compliment to Gio but he's an undeniable highlevel talent when he can stay healthy. His durability is why we get him cheap.

QB Jason Campbell - I think it's highly likely he's a cap casualty in Cleveland. He has experience with Hue and is a good veteran backup.

Draft:

1. DE Stephon Tuitt, Notre Dame - His size and athleticism are hard to pass up. He could play end or tackle. Comparable to Justin Tuck.

2. CB Lamarcus Joiner, Florida State - If he were 6'1 he'd be a top 10 pick. He's only 5'8 though but is a great player. Excellent in run and pass defense.

3. C/G Marcus Martin, USC - Big nasty run blocker.

4. RB James Wilder Jr., Florida State - Big power back who was part of a trio at FSU and doesn't have much wear.

Rest of the picks won't make the team

Tuitt strikes me as more a LDE or 3-4 DE.  We are loaded at LDE and don't need a 3-4 DE.  I think there's also a good chance he's gone before we pick.

I'd prefer a bigger back to DMC, but Hue may want him.

Would JC incite a QB controversy?

Hadn't thought of Jason Campbell, which is a genius idea.  IMO he's perfect.  He probably realizes he isn't going to walk into a starter situation, but given his options he knows he's got a friend in Hue - as well as a guy who knows how to use him.  Furthermore, it gives Dalton EXACTLY the kind of play-within-the-system veteran presence above him.

Major props for stating what should have been obvious (to me), but wasn't.

BTW, I love the rest of it too.

I like it all except the draft and I would give up on Dalton and get Vick. I think Campbell is a great idea if he is released. Whats his tag? I know they liked him there. But "they" are gone.

I like McFadden but it will depend almost entirely on his market. I think Toby Gerhart makes a ton of sense here with his pass catching ability.

I would kick the tires on DaNario Alexander with a 1 year show me deal.

I'd draft a TE as Gresham's successor.

I want to know more about Veldheer for the OL. Collins is my first choice then a draft another T in the first three rounds

DL I am willing to tag MJ. I get the doubts here. I dont want to draft a pass rusher early regardless. We have made wine from water often and I think we can do it here again.

LB We will be loaded here when healthy

S Get me a playmaker who can actually cover

CB First or second rounder for certain
