Is Garbage Journalism paid by the click ?

Perusing the internet and I ran across an unsourced article concerning Garbage Journalism. The mere fact that the article itself was unsourced made me consider it garbage in itself. However, it did call into question a pet peeve of mine. How is it that this type of journalism is perpetuated ? Are these guys paid by the click ? Is it really that simple to do away with these hacks by simply not clicking on their article ?
