HairOnFire
If owners have to pay for their mistakes with money, rather than crocodile tears, the NFL may have accidentally and reluctantly stumbled over a form of punishment that might actually work. For example, Carolina owner Jerry Richardson has seen his own personal reputation tarred, his teams reputation is once again reconnected to it's Ray Carruth past, and all for the tune of roughly 13 million to a player who committed a more serious crime than Ray Rice. Granted, the player still gets paid, but his career is either essentially over (Rice, Peterson, Hardy, Dwyer) or in fact completely over (Hernandez). So, if Goodell was truly serious about holding teams accountable for the criminal actions of it's players, as he once warned the Bengals he would do, the above seems to be a more perfect solution than one where the total number of arrests over a certain time period is somehow considered more important than the seriousness of the crimes committed. MichaelWeston
He's likely reinstated tomorrow. Vikes may cut him. Could land anywhere. Pats and colts could use a back. Ravebs. Doubt they do that after rice. Briwns even. Will be interesting. Could tilt things in league.
