Bernie Sanders

Whats to stop these companies who are already outsourcing as much as they can to save money, from doing the same things when Bernie is elected and makes them pay more? Or follow stricter regulations. Half of the people in the US would just say "You would be an idiot not to go where taxes were less."

Simple, we still have the largest consumer base. Charge a repatriation tax for companies that offshore their jobs so that if they want to bring their sweatshop made goods back here they are going to have to pay a higher fee than it would cost them to keep the factories here.

So Bernie has gotten to 1 million contributions, ahead of what Obama was as far as number of Contributions at the stage they are in, (not sure if ahead of Dollars though) he also is only 2 million dollars behind Clinton for this quarter.

IMO what this means is because Bernie doesnt have a SuperPac and the average donation to him is slightly over 30 dollars it means he has more individual contributors, and imo if people are willing to donate to him they would be willing to vote for him.

Fuck Sanders. Yet another dyed-in-the-wool politician. It doesn't matter whom is President in this corporate oligarchy of ours, folks. They are always beholden to money from somewhere,

What about this article elicits this reaction? I like that he is calling for an end to the federal ban on Marijuana.

Pandering to the voters is a bold move.

Pandering? Lifting marijuana prohibition is still a pretty divided issue. And it's a stance no other national level politician of note has taken.

Pandering to the voters is a bold move.

Er.. Yes, that is what a politician does, ideally.  I suppose you prefer they continue pandering to their corporate benefactors?

What an odd statement..

Oh, I'm all for that. There's plenty of politicians that espouse grand ideas that I agree with. What a politician says versus what they do, and what they can do once in office are hardly ever the same thing though.

It was meant in jest.  We have become so used to corporate interests coming before our own, I thought I'd like to point out that Bernie puts people first, and despite the Citizens United decision he does not believe that corporations are people.

Oh, ok.  Gotta use those ninjas dude!  With the kind of shit that gets posted in this subforum at times there's no telling who's joking or not.

Far too many assclowns are redefining ridiculous.  It's ruining hyperbole and satire.

what throughout Bernie Sanders voting record has you concerned that he won't vote what he thinks is right rather than what gets him money?

I know nothing about his voting record. All I'm saying is that campaign promises are cheap. What a politician can actually accomplish once in office is totally different quite often. And they're all still beholden to lobbyists and special interests.

He is not beholden to anyone... He is the only major candidate without a Super Pac.

Larger campaign donors???  lol, you need to read more.  Seriously.  Look up who is funding him.

If more politicians were beholden to their constituents, the US would be somewhere I'd consider living in again.

Bernie Sanders Clearly In Pocket Of High-Rolling Teacher Who Donated $300 To His Campaign

BURLINGTON, VT—After accepting a check sent to his campaign office by a local elementary school teacher, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was roundly criticized Monday as being firmly in the pocket of the high-rolling educator who had donated $300. “He might have the reputation of being the people’s candidate, but when your candidacy is effectively bankrolled by the multi-hundred-dollar donation of a fourth-grade teacher, it’s clear who’s really pulling the strings,” said political analyst Peter Mathews, who noted that when a check arrives with a handwritten note that says “Behind you 100 percent, Bernie!” it comes with certain expectations. “He’s already spouting off talking points about supporting unions and increasing funding for education. Where do you think he got those ideas? He might think he’s not influenced by that money, but when someone has deep enough pockets to drop $300, you pick up the phone when they call.” Mathews went on to say he wouldn’t be surprised if Sanders’ strong support for a living wage could be directly traced to the fat $20 contribution he got from a fast-food worker.
