CINCINNATI -- After beginning the week full of optimism that he might be able to bounce back from a stinger he received last week, Tyler Eifert now appears to be a no-go for the Cincinnati Bengals entering Sunday's game at Cleveland.

The Bengals listed Eifert as doubtful on the injury report they produced Friday. He's joined in that designation by cornerback Chris Lewis-Harris, who suffered a rib injury during last week's game against the St. Louis Rams.

With Eifert, the NFL's touchdown receptions leader (12), potentially shelved for this week, the Bengals will be forced to turn to his backups at the tight end position. Rookie Tyler Kroft and H-back Ryan Hewitt should expect to see a few more targets in the passing game, and a couple more snaps overall.

Asked Friday about Kroft, the third-round pick from Rutgers, head coach Marvin Lewis was full of confidence in the young playmaker.

"He's come in and done what we expected him to do," Lewis said. "He was the prospect that we felt very highly of among the tight ends, and he's not disappointed us. His toughness, his ability to block and catch and run and do all those things. We feel really good about it, and it's been great. He's played a lot of football for a young player. That speaks to his ability and also his versatility."

Used mostly as a blocker this season, Kroft has drawn only two targets on 114 snaps, according to ESPN Stats & Information. One of those targets resulted in his first career catch last week, a 4-yard reception that could have gone for more had he not slipped and fallen as soon as he caught it.
