Last time I checked the Patriots have not yet clinched a #1 seed, so I'm pretty sure they weren't throwing the game on purpose. Typical of them to blame others for their misery. Arkansas Bengal
Ravens revel in possibly spoiling Stealers' season By Kevin Patra Around the NFL writer Published: Dec. 28, 2015 at 09:22 a.m. Updated: Dec. 28, 2015 at 10:35 a.m. Sweeping your rival during a down season is enough reason for Sunday glee. Wrecking their pristine path to the playoff is the cherry on top. "It's the Stealers. We just wanted to beat them," Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Brandon Williams said, via the team's official website. "It's even sweeter that we may have ruined their playoff chances. That's the biggest icing on the cake, and we also just happened to sweep them." It's just the third time in the Ravens' 20-year history they've swept the Pittsburgh Stealers. They won 20-17 on Sunday with Ryan Mallett under center, no less. "I know what (the rivalry is) about now," Mallett said. "I like it. What Steve Smith (Sr.) said, 'big boy football,' right? Alright." Mallett played his best game as a pro, picking apart the Stealers' secondary for 274 yards on 28 completions with zero turnovers. Inexplicably, Mallett outplayed Ben Roethlisberger, who threw for 215 yards and two interceptions. After the game, Big Ben took blame for the loss. Pittsburgh now needs to win in Week 17 and hope for a Jets loss. While the Stealers were dejected, the Ravens reveled with glee. "If we can't get in there, then you can't get in either," corner Lardarius Webb said. nfl.com
JC
Burned by Ryan Mallet. Ouch. Literally the best thing that could have happened. The Ravens move back in the draft and decimate the Stealers playoff hopes. That Ravens 3-4 pass rush just knows how to get after Ben. Glad there's nothing on the line next week when we play them. scharm
That Ravens game was a HUGE example of how Hue's Pandora's box can back fire. The Ravens played a lot of soft zone early and let DeAngelo run all over them but kept points off the board. Meanwhile the Ravens grinded out drives in the first half by sticking with the run and underneath passing.Shortened the game. Ravens can't cover man to man very good. Which started to show in the second half with some Steeler passing plays and PI penalties but the timing wasn't there with the pressure of trailing against the clock which translated into mistakes by Ben.Mallet showed off his arm talent when he had to, who knows if he ever figures it out to be consistent over a NFL season. If he does, I hope the Ravens have moved on from him by then.

Arkansas Bengal
That reminds me. Where are the constant Jeremy Fuckface Fowler stealer artices all of a sudden? I want to see him spin this after deepthroating the stealers, especially after they played us. Here's one: Stealers go from playoff darling to odd team out in ugly Ravens loss 7:17 PM ET Jeremy FowlerESPN Staff Writer BALTIMORE -- The Pittsburgh Stealers walked slowly off the field after the ball bounced off Markus Wheaton’s fingertips and past a Ravens defender. They might as well have limped. They were beaten up all day by an old division rival -- and beaten up by the Jets, who upended the Patriots to take a one-game lead over Pittsburgh (9-6) in the wild-card chase. This was a curiously bad performance by the Stealers in a 20-17 loss to Baltimore, considering how hot this team was and how unstoppable the offense looked for more than a month. They reached back for the fastball and simply didn’t have it. This was Ben Roethlisberger’s worst game in nearly two months, and it came at the absolute worst time. "That's our fault, my fault," said Roethlisberger after completing 24-of-34 passes for 215 yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions and three sacks. "We controlled our destiny, but we gave the ball away today, and we can't do that. I can't do that." The result: The Stealers are still well-positioned to stay home in January for the third time in four years. It’s not over, but the Jets and Chiefs (who are both 10-5) are outplaying them for the final two AFC wild-card spots. Way too many mental errors cost Pittsburgh, which has to regroup in the season finale at Cleveland. Consider this: The Stealers got nearly 100 yards in pass interference help, got a 101-yard Jimmy Smith interception touchdown negated by a neutral-zone infraction and still lost. And, oh yeah, the Ravens swept the series in 2015. "It doesn't get much worse than this," outside linebacker James Harrison said. What it means: The Stealers are not the playoff threat they thought they were, at least not today. Roethlisberger is blemishing a historically good passing year with too many picks. He’s got 14 on the year, and his two on Sunday were all on him. Both were errant throws. The quarterback who made the necessary throws to win was Ryan Mallett, who got booted from the Texans for missing team activities before being picked up by the Ravens. "I'll tell you guys the same thing that I just told the football team -- we're capable of beating anyone, but we're also capable of losing to anyone," coach Mike Tomlin said. What were they thinking? The Stealers blew through two timeouts in the first eight minutes of the second half, leaving one timeout for the final 22 minutes of a close game. They needed those timeouts as they approached the two-minute warning with a 20-17 deficit. It’s good the offense wants to get organized, but those timeouts are crucial in the final minutes of games -- especially in a Ravens-Stealers rivalry that has been decided by three points or less in six of the eight previous meetings. Roethlisberger said after the game he didn't remember why the offense called the timeouts. One reason to get excited: For the second straight week, the Stealers showed they can make adjustments to overcome sluggish starts. Without much offensive explosion, the Stealers did some nice things in spots, using creative blitzes to get off the field, rushing a safety or a corner on occasion. Stephon Tuitt's late third-down stop was impressive. The defense wasn’t great but picked things up enough to give the offense a chance. Usually, this would be enough. Roethlisberger smartly started dumping off to the middle of the field. He got in trouble when he forced throws, and eventually he had no choice but to do so. "They were throwing a lot of short balls and got into a good rhythm," said defensive end Cam Heyward of the Ravens offense, which produced nearly 400 total yards. "We weren't surprised by that, but it was very effective." One reason for concern: Antonio Brown was the only receiver to do much of anything. Heath Miller, Martavis Bryant and Wheaton combined for two catches and 17 yards through the first three quarters. Wheaton wasn’t on the field for large chunks of the game and caught his first pass, a 15-yarder, early in the fourth quarter. The Stealers are at their best when at least three pass-catchers are involved. Fantasy watch: DeAngelo Williams wouldn’t suffer a subpar outing for a second straight game. Williams rushed for 100 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns, giving him five in his past three games. Ouch: Safety Mike Mitchell left the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder issue after attempting a tackle. Starting cornerback Antwon Blake (back spasms) and fullback Roosevelt Nix (leg) both left the game and didn’t return. They will be evaluated in the coming days. http://espn.go.com/blog/pittsburgh-Stealers/post/_/id/17009/Stealers-go-from-playoff-darling-to-odd-team-out-in-ugly-ravens-loss
