Stealers OL Kelvin Beachum: Stealers put Bengals 'back in their place'

SAN FRANCISCO — Kelvin Beachum missed his Pittsburgh Stealers’ Wild Card win over the Cincinnati Bengals last month because of an injury, but he wasn’t surprised by the end-of-game chippiness between the AFC North rivals.

“I describe it like this: You have a red-head stepchild, and you know, it’s usually the Pittsburgh Stealers, the Baltimore Ravens and then the Cincinnati Bengals,” the Stealers offensive tackle told NESN.com’s Michaela Vernava on Tuesday on Super Bowl Radio Row. “And, you know, they wanted to come up, and we have to make sure they stayed in their place. … They got a little further, a little besides themselves, and we had to put them back in their place.”

That place was another early playoff exit for the Bengals and another postseason win for Ben Roethlisberger, who again fought through injuries to lead the Stealers.

“We follow that type of toughness and that type of competitiveness that he has,” Beachum said. “He’s going to find a way to get out on the field whatever way he can, and when he’s out there on the field, we’re at our best. It’s the reason why we pay him $100 million. He’s a great quarterback, and he does a great job of putting us in a great position to score and to win games.”

In business there are always three major competitors. It doesn't matter the product. This clown thinks he's Coke. Ravens are Pepsi and we're Mountain Dew. The Browns must be tap water with sweetener. Stealers were only in the playoffs because the Jets lost a game they was supposed to win in Buffalo. Someone evidently opened up that bottle of Coke at the factory and pissed in it . Giving it that black & gold appearance

If the Bengals want to stop being put in their place, they need to stop losing to Pittsburgh at an exceptionally high rate, especially at home.

the bengals are still who everyone nationally thinks they are. A team that cannot get past itself on the biggest stages.

Thanks, Captain Obvious. But that has nothing to do with him being a dick about it when he didn't fucking play.

well it's the old saying- if you don't like someone celebrating a TD/win etc, stop them from scoring/winning.

the Bengals seem to be perfectly content with never putting all the peices together to be a legitimate championship team, and that comes with beating the Stealers regularly. The bengals are happy with themselves year in and year out... And part of that is keeping coaches that cannot win, drafting project players high instead of potential difference makers, and going after mediocre FAs or resigning mediocre players like Michael Johnson instead of someone like DeMarcus Ware two years ago.

If you want to stop being the NFLs stepchild, stop acting like the NFLs stepchild.

Yes, the Bengals need to start beating them, but what's the point in bringing that up? It's like if your friend's mom died and you keep bringing it up to him every few days. It's true, but that doesn't mean that you have to keep saying it. Especially to people who can't do anything about it.

Maybe this is a good thing... Maybe the ending of the playoff game was too..

Look at the after effects...

We bullied and beat up the Steelers.... Something they always did to us.....

Then we cried and cried and now that's what they are doing...

I don't think we should back off at all... I think we should double down and embrace the bad boy image and force the Sissy image on the Steelers....

maybe just maybe this is a turning point and we are no longer the red headed step child
