TE LaQuan McGowan, the 405 lb BEAST we need <3

Recommended Posts

The veteran posters here know that over the last 12 years of this forum, my biggest pre-draft weakness is a DT over 340 lbs who can move … they give me a Platonic football boner like no other prospects.

Well this year, we have a prospect that fires that flesh rocket into the stratosphere, meet Baylor TE LaQuan McGowan, who is 6’7, 405 lbs, and just ran a 5.4 40 yd dash at his pro day. He can even catch passes with 1 hand and score touchdowns!

An ex basketball player and good athlete, at his pro day today he also had a 24-inch vertical jump and 8-foot-2 broad jump, did the 20-yard short shuttle in 5.47 seconds and the three-cone drill in 8.25 seconds. He then performed 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press despite his 7 foot wingspan.

Imagine the possibilities at FB, blocking TE, Goal line DT, Short yardage RB, ... the dreams are endless! :1hump:

His projection is Rd7-FA... Considering the way we use Peko and Roland/Fisher, dude's a 6th O-Lineman who can actually catch a pass. (His true college position is OG)

Absolutely no reason not to take a 7th round flier on the guy. I can see him getting 5-6 plays a game in Jumbo and goalline sets.

Is that enough to justify dressing him on game day though?

Yeah, that brings up a topic I go back and forth on...the 53 limit...if expanded it could really open up some interesting gadget plays, different defensive packages, more special teams specialists, etc. for teams that could afford to have/keep more players with one-off talents...on the other hand, limiting to 53 promotes challenging strategy.

, I'm not sure the reasoning for that rule, but maybe keep the limit 53 but allow teams to activste 1 or 2 more on gameday.

I knew BJ was going to love this guy after hearing about him. I could see him as a project for oline. Remember jason peters was in the same boat coming out of college. To big for tight end but was athletic. Not saying he will be a jason peters but you have to love his size and athleticism.

BJ who was the player that Tampa took to cause you to break your model ship?
