The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly - Jets

Recommended Posts

Good:  Shaw interception, Hunt being a factor all day, AJ Green dominance, and Jeremy Hill playing like he can.

Bad:  Dunlop pretty much no-showing against some dude at RT.  Zeitler missing assignments.  Kirkpatrick for the most part.

Ugly:  Bodine.  All Day.

The beautiful...

The fire drill field goal at the end of the half...  That's the difference right there...

Margus hunt being a factor all day

Dalton to Aj

The good...

LaFell, Hill, never give up attitude of the team

the bad...

Run defense, o line

The Ugly...

the refs and the NFL and their new bullshit rules where the defender basically has to sit back and let the receiver catch the ball instead of trying to knock it out with a legal hit like in the past

And they ignore obvious unnecessary hits like Shazier. In the Dallas game yesterday, Zeke was stood up on a run in a sea of OL and DL with his head sticking out above the pile and some dude, instead of driving the pile, launched on Zeke's head. Not a flag or a peep from the booth. Selective player safety?

And what happened to the rule about runners leading with their head? There was a play yesterday where a jet runner was in obvious violation of that rule. Does it still exist? I know there's a fine line between dropping your shoulder and leading with your helmet, but this was obvious.

Ugly - that the personal foul calls for hits to head on defenseless receivers are not subject to challenge. I get why officials reflexively throw the flag, but it happens at such a speed that it would be nice to have a chance to challenge those calls when they are wrong. That call gave huge life to the Jets and would have been a huge factor if Bengals had ended up losing the game.

And fucking Simms said that the flag made up for Iloka's earlier hit that didn't get called. Which was an obvious shoulder hit. In the end zone. Out in the open. Yet the refs ruled it was clean. So the one that was flagged was his second hard clean hit, so that was a foul? The first one was close and this one was close, so that conatitutes a flag?

GOOD
A Win on the road in Week 1
Dalton continues to mature and lead. Top 10 QB in the NFL
AJ Green was a beast
CJ Uzomah was very solid. Could be a nice player
Brandon LaFell looked like a legit #2 WR
Margus Hunt actually PLAYED FOOTBALL
Huber flipped the field a few times (especially with the one boomer) and kicked well for the most part
Dansby and Williams looked good in their new Bengal starter roles

BAD
The refereeing was poor
Gio outplays Hill again but gets half the touches
Andy's INT
Dre Kirkpatrick continues to be simply awful
Peko needs to go but there's no one to take his place

UGLY
Marvin should have punted the ball instead of letting Nugent try the 52 yard FG. Could have easily lost the game because of that call.
The O-Line
Pacman getting lit up on his return

If we punted and Jets drive the field for that FG (we weren't stopping them from driving) then we wouldn't have had time to come back and score at the end. Technically he saved us time by reducing the amount of time Jets had to take to drive. lol

The Good:

Andy
AJ

Hills TD run

Hunt showing up for once

Josh Shawn and CLH both looked good in the slot which is nice to know we have reliable depth behind Dennard once he returns

The Bad:

Run D

C, RG, RT lack of communication

C Bodine lack of ability

Our LBs letting dump offs go for way too many yards. Don't stop and watch them cut, run through the damn RB/receiver.

The receiver being wide open near the 50 yard line at the end of the game, we are very lucky he dropped the ball.

The Ugly:

The Jets WRs getting away with constant pick plays the entire first half with no flags

Brandon Marshall constant pushing off hardly called

Peko being held on the screen play and not called. Led to a huge gain

Iloka's flag

ANYONE on our team returning a kick from the endzone. It is pure fucking stupidity. The best returners in the NFL don't get past the 25 on a regular basis. Every time that damn ball is in the endzone the knee should go the fuck down and take it at the 25. That is all on Darren Simmons and the guy is one of the best STs coaches in the game but that just lacks intelligence to bring one out. We did it 2 or 3 times and all 3 were pissing extra yards away and game time late in the game. Hope it doesn't happen again. Teams need someone in charge of common sense that does the analysis behind returns and clock management because every team in the NFL is borderline retarded at it.

On that first hit, it looks to me like the Jets receiver deliberately kicks Iloka?
