Bringing Zimmer Home

Recommended Posts

Someone mentioned it in the G, B, & U thread. Let's talk about it.

Any chance it could happen? Does he still have any ties to Cincinnati? Plenty of players still here. Things are looking pretty good in Minnesota right now. It's not unlikely they win 11-13 games this season and take the division.

How about other HC options? Something tells me, even if we turn things around and finish respectably, Marvin might be running out of steam, his appetite for the sideline might be wearing thin.

Lol @ "storied franchise". Please count the number of hands raised who were around when Carl Eller, Joe Kapp, and Mick Tinglehoff were playing? In other words: the last time they were relevant.

Go raise an Asherah Pole and build an altar if you want to worship this guy. Cripes.

It's a simple conversation piece. You don't like it, get the steppin'. C'mon man, there's plenty of other spots for you to add your glistening perspective.

Plus, not that it hasn't been discussed at all, but, here we are, nearing the halfway point of the season, certainly we can at least prognosticate as to what sorts of candidates might be available should we promote/depart from Marvin.

All of the Zimmer talk is ridiculous. He's not coming back unless the Vikes fire him. And all of the lamenting of him not getting the HC job here before he left is as equally pointless.

Conversation piece - Can we get the DNA of Munoz and clone him 5 times to put 5 Cloned Muoz's across the line? And if we do would they be enough to beat a team of mini Diktas?

Zimmer actually owns a home in NKY, so if you wanted to bring him home you can buy him a plane ticket. As for him becoming the HC of the Bengals that's a pipe dream and has been discussed many times as to why that didn't happen a few years ago and won't be happening anytime soon.

Marvin Lewis is the coach for this 2016 season and will probably be the coach in 2017 being that he is under contract and I don't see MB paying him his full salary to not coach the Bengals next year. It's time to deal with the fact that Mike Zimmer will not be coaching the Bengals in ANY capacity for the foreseeable future, so please get that idea out of your head. A more realistic discussion would be what offensive coordinator or offensive line coach can we get to upgrade our current coaches.

However when you consider that we have had a substantial talent drain from both coaches and players in the last 3 years without adequate replacements then you understand why this team is 2-4.

Oooh if we're cloning people, I'll have four Munoz and a Braham, with Dillon taking hand offs from Anderson running behind Lorenzo.

No worship at all.. just stating facts. 11 guys in Pro Football HOF, including guys like Doleman, Randle, Carter and McDaniel. And likely Randy Moss in a few years. Not 1970-era guys.  26 playoff appearances since 1970 (3rd most in NFL), 4 SB appearances.

They have had a better track record, point blank. Maybe not a compelling reason for Zimmer to stay, but if you add that to several other factors, he's in a good place with an ascending team.

Hyperbolic drivel.

This thread at least has one toe in reality.

Again, if you hate this thread so much, skim past in next time, please.

Just to be clear, I never intimated that we had anything resembling a chance to bring Zimmer back, was merely wondering if anyone had insight on anything that *could* entice him back. There might well be nothing. I never had pie in the sky thoughts...just curiosity. And, also, about other options for the future.

At this point you're reading what you want, excepting what I've actually written.

There is 0 chance that Zimmer comes back here unless he is fired in Minn, which with their current record isn't happening...and the Bengals would never make any trade to get a head coach.

So no this is thread is not based in reality....not even a toe in the pool.

Admit it. You're just upset Z started this thread because you thought it was your job to.

Man, go back and read the OP, then read my most recent in the thread, and see precisely how you're pointlessly pontificating.
