** RD 2 - BENGALS select JOE MIXON, RB **

Recommended Posts

And I am now reading some NFL.com hack's Quick-snap grades for teams Day1-2. This is what he says about Minnesota's trade-up-to-take-a-girl-puncher RB (wasn't caught on film):

"Hopefully the concerns which dropped Cook to the second were much ado about nothing."

My God, what hypocrites.

No question.  Then again, there was video of Joey Porter and his goons mugging Jones and the NFL was happy to ignore that.  There's some very cynical math that goes on, where the available evidence & severity of the crime gets weighed against the popularity (read as $$$ value) of the accused.

There is also the simple gravity of having one of the more popular teams in the NFL. If you're the Stealers, with a 10-15% chunk of NFL fans, your silence or or chatter on any players transgressions makes up a good chunk of the water cooler talk.

Stooler fans are a special case - they've been a dirty team since the 70's,  so I assume any fan of the shitbags is either too casual to really be aware of it, doesn't care, or in many cases from what I've heard out of them actually likes that they're goons.  Superbowl MVP > sexual predator in Shitsburgh.

Simply put? Because the NFL is not the game.

Goodell, ESPN, & all the other bullshit doesn't stop me from enjoying a last minute pass breakup on 3rd & long, or AJ Green doing AJ Green things.  That being said, I don't follow NFL ball nearly as much as I once did.  Eventually I suspect they'll have the big scandal and following reform like all the other major sports, or instead they'll just get more and more corrupt until I lose interest.

If it's a problem for you, you can always put me on ignore and I'd be none the wiser.

No problems on my end.  I hear ya.  Just odd to me.  I would have lost interest a while back if I felt the same way you do.

These stats actually prove my point. After endless media exposure of the Ray Rice tape, still only 60% of Americans were against him and nearly a 3rd supported his right to keep playing. Contrast that with Mixon who probably has an approval below Trump's ass pimple at less than 5% and was booed upon selection while the national media literally trip over themselves to denounce him. I have seen one media outlet report that Mixon's punch "traumatized" the local community and the impact will never be forgotten ... hmm, I wonder why others would feel personally scared by this incident? (rhetorical question)

I love it when people fish for racism when it isn't there.

Fish is actually a good analogy, as race in America is like the water that we all swim in as fish. It is unavoidable, and a constant that is always there. You can not remove it from any situation. It's baked into our worldview, the way we are taught to perceive the world and every situation, and even our subconscious. If you want to pretend this isn't so fine, but I know better.

Big Jen has been raping women since high school and he gets a pass

Stealers can do whatever they want. If he had been drafted by Pissburgh, ESPN would have complemented his fast twitch and response time with the punch.

ESPN (if drafted by Stealers): "Look at that form with his wrist and how quickly he reacts. That will translate in to hitting the hole like Levon Bell or Big Jen in a bathroom stall."

So much fake outrage it was actually insulting.

I'd wager about 25% of Stealers fans hit their wives after a Big Jen interception, but all of them probably jumped up after the Mixon pick to say how awful it was that the Bengals would take such a "thug" (codeword).

What they really resent though is that the Bengals started playing by the same rules that they always have and decided that they wouldn't hold themselves to a different standard as the blue chip franchises. Marvin saw this first hand as a assistant coach for both Pitt and Baltimore. He knows how they operate. The few chosen teams want to have all the alpha male "Mean Joe Greens" and want the other teams to be comprised of community service boy scouts who get smashed into the turf. How convenient for them.

Lol @ that ESPN squawking head: "We KNOW who made this decision in Cincinnati..."

Sure, go to the MB default setting.

I detest media in general...but I absolutely loathe Sports Media.

It's obvious that this is nothing but an attack on MB. They were laying it on thick on ESPN this morning. One guy was saying that MB was just being frugal, implying that MB went for the value and didn't give a shit what Mixon did. Then he said that Mixon was picked even though we are set at RB with Gio and Hill, like MB just picked Mixon to be an asshole. I can't make this shit up.

Also why that WC game was called the way it was & VB got a 3-game suspension while their coach that was pulling hair like a bitch won his appeal.  Then they schedule the first game next season during the suspension & send out the same ref crew.  Pretty fucking obvious there.

And the Stooler whining after that WC game, man that was sweet to hear even though it worked.  They're a spoiled playground bully hiding behind Goodell's apron.

this pick makes me moist..

some punk bitches with some tall soap boxes.

even the stupid bitch is cool, shes moved past it, she said they sat down without lawyers and sorted it out and wanted to move on from it..

but some crusty old white dudes in ohio are picking out tree branches.

Joe is currently 20 years old, so this happend when he was 18?, so an 18 hr old kid, getting called racial clurs, attached by a big bitch pushing and punches him, makes one mistake..

and yall got the shotguns ready?

what a joke. make sure you toss extra "judge others" cash in the collection plate tomorrow.

the only thing embarrassing i see is grown mens reactions to a mistake an 189?) yr old in a position theyll never even imagine being in, makes a single mistake.

look at the video that happened the day after he turned 18... omfg... what a bunch of assholes

The day after he turned 18 the pampered elite athlete suckered punched a 125 lb girl in the face and broke in in 4 places.

Meanwhile, my 17 year old son gets charged, handcuffed and escorted out of his high school for all to see for,..gasp, selling his close friend some alcohol OFF SCHOOL PROPERTY..   Yeah, pretty much tired of watching pampered football and basketball players do what they want and local law enforcement turn a blind eye.

Hell, the starting QB for my son's High School got caught stealing money and credit cards from his own teammates during practice out of their football lockers. 1000s of dollars stolen. Do you think he got arrested at school and paraded down the hallways?  Fuck no, no arrest either just had to pay his teammates back.

Joe Mixon is a piece of shit.  I really don't care just as long as he can play football and doesn't fuck us over.  I certainly don't care about his or anyone's  character since I realize most of them have none.

It isn't the same as taking on Pac-Man.  Jones was a serial fuck up and I felt it was a matter of time until it blew up in our faces.  Getting punk'd by Porter was about as Pac-Man a move as possible.

Clearly your opinion is colored by what happened to your son. How would you feel if people said your son was a piece of shit and didnt deserve anything good to happen to him for the remainder of his life, regardless of his talents? What is he's a monster coder, but couldn't get a job with any companies because of his alcohol selling history? I just dont think that a man automatically is gifted with wisdom and maturity because the calendar flips and says he's 18.

Its so hyped and so hyperbolic and it's generally a goddamned vacuum. It's the same shit over and over again.

My son never attacked a 125 lb girl and sent her to the hospital.  Apples and oranges.  And my son was ostracized by many of the students and parents, the QB not so much ( certainly some though).
