|BlackJesus|
Josh Malone 6'3 208 lbs 4.40 (40) Overview The Gallatin, Tennessee native made a lot of people happy by staying in-state to play with the Volunteers. The state's Mr. Football was a top-five receiver recruit nationally, and figured he would play right away in Knoxville. Malone was correct, as he started six games in 2014, catching 23 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown. He was a full-time starter as a sophomore (31-405, two TDs) but came into his own in 2016. Tennessee's top receiver caught 50 passes for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns in his final year with the Vols before deciding to join teammates Joshua Dobbs and Alvin Kamara in starting his NFL career. |BlackJesus|
And remember this wasn't even a pick the Bengals had until yesterday. This was a freebie based on moving down 7 slots and taking Mixon (who they wanted at 41 anyway). Highway robbery going on right now. Mikey Ball is robbing motherfuckers! They are clearly just going off their value board. He was a 2nd-3rd rd talent with great measurables. Just take the best players you can as they have the best chance of making the team. From a value perspective, it's like the Bengals have a list that the other teams don't. And keep getting the consensus best guy left every time they choose. DanvilleBengal
Now it's looking like a Bengals draft....there are question marks, but the people that Bengals target and draft have positive reputations, and for the most part they are productive...Not to mention that probably in a year or two, I'm pretty sure that at least three of them can turn out to be starters, to offset letting other players go via free agency, like Sanu and Jones last offseason... Inigo Montoya
First thought I had when Malone was drafted was that Cody Core or Alex Erickson are not safe on the roster unless they keep 7 receivers or someone gets hurt. I like the idea of doubling up at the position and having better depth both this year and going forward. Malone seems like fit the profile of an NFL starter and was a nice value pick in the 4th round.

Not only did we snag a couple receivers with much higher upside and speed. But we also drafted three different guys (Ross, Mixon and Wilson) who are excellent return men. If Erickson isn't clearly the best returner, then not sure of his role. Because we have Boyd to start in the slot and both LaFell and Ross have experience inside too. He is but I can't see Erickson making the team. He had 1 skill of being a returner and they traded up for the guy from Houston who is a KR stud as is John Ross and Mixon capable too. They also talked about having Gio possible getting into returning once he returns.
