T-Dub Posted September 4, 2017 Report Share Posted September 4, 2017 Aside from having enough cap space to sign the Bill's starters, will the expiration of the Top 51 this Thursday mean anything to the Bengals? AFAIK that means all player contracts count towards the cap. I'd think that's more an issue for #teamslikeCleveland that are turning over their roster constantly. They could have a lot of dead money in players that weren't Top 51 paid. That could add up for some teams. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sparky151 Posted September 4, 2017 Report Share Posted September 4, 2017 It won't mean anything to the Bengals because they no longer have 90 players on the roster. During the season the cap applies to the 53 players on the regular roster, plus the practice squad, plus guys on IR, plus dead money for cut players. I believe Jones and Burfict are still on the cap but at lower numbers than previously thought since they don't get paid during their suspensions. |westside bengal| Posted September 4, 2017 Report Share Posted September 4, 2017 Never paid any attention to the Bills but if IIRC the Turds had over $210 million in cap space so with their contracts plus eating the $38 million dead cap....they still have over $60 million in cap space for this year.
