How far can Andy Dalton take the Bengals?

We need to give A.J. a chance in the game. Get Andy out.

I can understand that, but if we go to it, and AJ McCareaon goes well,  there is no way that we could go back to Dalton....  Actually, if AJ comes out during a game that actually counts, and it's not because DAlton was hurt,   the cat's metaphorically out of the bag, and you cant put the cat back in...

You are right that Andy was having a very good year for him in 2015.  But other than 2015 hasn't Andy's rating been less than 85 in 50% of his games?  And under 75 in around 33% of his games.  Andy seems to be a pretty good vs not so hot kind of QB.  If Andy is hot for the right games then he is capable of winning a SB.  But the odds are not in his favor.

Since '11 Dalton has 50 games with a passer rating over 85.  That is good for 10th in the league.

Unfortunately Dalton also has 31 games with a passer rating lower than 75 which ranks ranks 3rd.

So Dalton's big problem is inconsistency, and I can not dispute that.  But that has nothing to do with him having a "low ceiling", and that was the point I was disputing by pointing out how well Dalton performed in 2015.  More proof that Dalton has a high ceiling is that he is 6th in the league in games with a passer rating of 100+ since 2011.

So you can call him "inconsistent" but you can't claim he has a "low ceiling".

A.J. can throw all the long/deep passes to A.J. and Ross. It was demonstrated Sunday, Andy cannot.

McCarron has done nothing to prove he can throw the deep ball better than Dalton.  In 2015 they were both throwing to the same receivers behind the same line.  Here is how each fared on throws over 20 yards past the line of scrimmage.

McCarron...5-14, 194 yards, 1 td, 1 int, 78.0 rating

Dalton.....19-52, 718 yards, 6 td, 4 int, 91.0 rating

There used to be a poster that was run off the board because he always claimed that Dalton was just an 80's rated QB.

Maybe he was correct all along.

I remember that. He was right, and the others were wrong. I wonder what happened to him?

He has not been right the last two years.

Maybe he just stopped posting because he was embarrassed about being so wrong.  How much did he post during the '15 season?

Andy Dalton Sighting...

Saw him earlier this evening at Belterra Casino, the one by Riverbend.

He was on the radio talk show.

Me?  I was working on my retirement fund and paying for my press box seats next season.

Is the radio show broadcast there? Where the casino is. Or was he out for a night of gambling?

Radio show.  They are on a platform/stage behind the bar in the Stadium Club restaurant.  They frown on questions from the peanut gallery.  They did it last year and I guess they are doing it again this.  Not sure if it was something special or different because the game is Thursday.

No table games, no Pacman.  You can't smurf chips with a slot machine.

Ever since he spit on that slot machine for disrespecting him.

Dalton finished 2nd in the league with a 106.2 passer rating in 2015.  He was being discussed as an MVP candidate.  How is that a "low ceiling"?

Oops, I forgot.  Who needs facts when you have a bullshit opinion, right?

Being discussed by whom, fans on Bengals message boards????

Besides that was 2 years ago, what has he done recently. Cam Newton was the MVP in real life in 2015 and he's trying to put his career back together. Trying to give Dalton the benefit of the doubt or credit for something that happened 2 seasons ago is ridiculous.

In 2015 Dalton wasn't in the top 10 for passes attempted & completed, passing yards or touchdowns, completion percentage, or passing yards per game. How was he an MVP candidate when he can't even get in the top 10 for these categories.

I want tonight to go either two ways.

I want to see Dalton come out madder than a hornet and play with some serious passion and fire.

Or I want to see him throw 2 picks and lose a fumble in the 1st so they can roll McScooter out there.

I would love to see Dalton play with some passion and fire, but when has that ever happened?

He doesn't have it in him.

You really want to see that first option?...Honestly?...I'm surprised.  :)

Yeah and lol @ people who make definitive, absolute, statements as though they are the gospel creed...then attempt to confirm them with sideways, snarky film clips when called into question.

Lolz @ people who defend this lame duck HC and scrub QB.

I didnt think the oline was horribe tonight.  So Ross has a fumble and he sits the rest of the game?  WTF?

Marvinball at it's best.  Way to inspire confidence.

Not that he would have made a difference.  From what I can see Ross has three plays.  Jet sweep.  Fake jet sweep.  Go deep.  They used the jet sweep and Dalton didn't have the time for deep throws and won't likely have that time this season.
