13 or more would set an NFL record.  There's potential, but this offense has been designed around limiting the exposure of a marginal OL (and well before this season.)  To Lazor's credit, he's done an ok job of damage control, but Marv is also inclined to abandon the run as quickly as possible.

Being on the wrong side of history seems like the Bengal thing to do...

Jacksonville has 2 games with 10 sacks so far this season. Against Houston and Indianapolis. That's pretty incredible. I think our line is probably worse. Andy is pretty decent at getting rid of the ball quickly so I don't think they'll hit 10 against us.

There are 10 teams in the league that have been sacked more times than us and 3 more with the same number, we're down in the 20s as far as QB hits go, and we likely have the worst line in the league overall.

The offense is built around limiting sacks and hits on Andy. Jacksonville is going to give us fits and we probably see "bad Andy" this weekend with multiple INTs from constant pressure, but I don't see 10+ sacks with our scheme. We lose badly but Andy makes it out alive.

Here are a few sack stats that I hope we don't ear the announcers discussing Sunday.  (Sacks did not become an official stat in the NFL until 1982, so I don't know for sure where Profootballreference.com got these numbers)

The Bengals have allowed 7 or more sacks 21 times in their history.  The last time was opening day last year against the Jets.  Prior to that you have to back to '08 when Ryan Fitzpatrick was dropped 7 times by the Stealers and 8 times by the Eagles.  The rest of the games were from 2000 or older.

The record for sacks allowed by the Bengals is 10.  It has happened 3 times.

10-19-69 Denver.....Sam Wyche had 27 attempts, but he was able to complete 15 passes for 202 yards, 3tds, and only 1 int.

11-29-92 Pittsburgh.....David Klingler threw the ball 34 times only completing 16 for 140 yards, but he did run 8 times for 44 yards.

10-13-96 Pittsburgh.....Jeff Blake had 30 attempts and completed 23 of them (76.7%) for 229 yards 1 td and 1 int.

How many times will Andy be sacked Sunday?

None.

They are benching him for McCarron.

BTW ... had dinner at Belterra casino yesterday evening (comp buffets).

They host a radio call in show with Lance and Rocky "I went to high school with Luke Kulchy" Borman.

Their guest was Andy Dalton.

Some drunk fool in the bar got loud and mouthy and was thrown out.

Highly amusing.

Dalton is on a record breaking season for getting sacked.   He's averaging about 3 per game.   On the road he gets sacked twice as much.   Playing from behind he gets sacked more.   Getting to and past the opponents 49 yard line he gets sacked more often.   Everything about this game says that he'll get sacked more than any other time in his career.   However,  because I have statistically overanalyzed this sack stat,  I will only  guess 4 to 5 sacks.   Would not surprise me one bit if they experienced the dead cat bounce in the middle of the season this year...

By my count there are 3 home games left against equally shitty teams (currently <500), otherwise..

We have to win enough games to get a low enough draft choice where the players who could really help

us are already gone and give them an excuse to give Marvin an extension.

Then we could draft another injury prone wide receiver with the brain of an ant and an offensive lineman

who would not start for a good high school team.

?

btw... forget this playoff crap
