Mike Brown was killed in August of 2014.  Freddy Grey died on April 19, 2015. There were marches and borderline riots.  The black president of the US empowered his black attorney general Lorretta Lynch to try and fix these problems.   I only took the NFL 2 ENTIRE years to get all righteous.  Colin Kaepernick was about 2 years late to the party and only showed up for some activist pussy.  BLM and other groups were way ahead of any of these weak protests and that is what they are WEAK ASS LAME PROTESTS.   Kneeling for 1 minute to push your brand didn't fix one fucking thing NFL players.  NOTHING.   Now its about bravado and puffing out your chests against the evil owners who pay your salaries after the latest anthem policy was released.  None of this will fix ONE DAMN THING.

I will still contend that bad policing in the  African American community and ALL poor communities is the LEAST of their problems. Drugs kills more people in one day than unarmed blacks have been killed in the last 5 years.  Approximately 22,000 seniors in Chicago City schools will NOT be graduating this year.   The police are not preventing students from attending school and getting a good education.   This is about broken culture particularly in the political dens of CITY POLITICIANS.  Find me a shit hole and I can almost always point to corrupt politicians surrounded by a corrupt bureaucracy.  The NFL players won't even touch that, they won't piss off the people who give them the key and protection to most of the cities they play in.

The “weak ass protests “ haven’t garnered national attention? International attention now?

Asshole president isn’t now trying to make patriotism mandatory?

Let’s be TOTALLY real here... most white people hardly give a FUCK about the systemic oppression and cultures that have been PURPOSELY broken by the white power brokers... as long as it doesn’t affect them personally.

They ignored the BLM protests and Million Man marches because they KNEW that things would “simmer down”.

Well then along comes Kaepernick, and all

of a sudden “baseball, applies pie, and Mom” were insulted and attention was and is being given.

Your response to what seems like all the protests is much like the rest of white Americas... “ Fix your black culture and your black problems first, and THEN we will listen to you.”

They can’t fix the problem when the white powered brokers won’t let them.. because of the apathy of most of the comfortable white Americans who continue to support the powers that be.

After review, the player had one hand on his chest and made a patriotic move before being tackled. However, he didn't manage to maintain possession of the president's balls all the way to his knees. The ruling on the field is a Hannity, please reset the clock to 1939.

Very well said. And really, if they ever did manage to overcome the systematic oppression they face those same white Americans would be more than happy to tell them they're doing just fine so shut the fuck up.

Correlation does not equal causation. One might argue that the increase in finding links on the internet to watch (ie: piracy) could also be the problem with the dip in ratings.

Have you ever resorted to watching one of those? I have, multiple times, back when we used to have blackouts, which was the ONLY reason to watch them. They are adware-infested, shitty media player having hunks of rotten pussy on a stick. They're terrible. There's no fucking way that could be attributable to the so-called "downward spiral" of the NFL, which to me is overblown in any case.

Let all the puffed up blowhards stop watching (a group which, ironically enough, includes my retired Army general father, whom claims personal responsibility for organizing veterans groups, etc to join him in boycotting the games...for a few weeks, then he was back to watching them too. Way to go, Dad!). I don't give a fuck about them. I don't give a fuck about the protests anymore it's gotten so ridiculous. I care about the meaning behind WHY the players protested, but that's been mostly lost now.

And then comes the troubling second verse... Which I'm sure all true patriots who respect our flag know.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle’s confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash’d out their foul footstep’s pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Ironically, the melody Key assigned to accompany the lyrics of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was a popular English drinking song called “To Anacreon in Heaven.”

Written around 1775 by John Stafford Smith, the song honored the ancient Greek poet Anacreon, a lover of wine. It was originally performed at a London gentleman’s music club called the Anacreontic Society.

The Anacreontic Song, as it was known, had a track record of popularity in the United States by 1814. In one famous case, defenders of the embattled second president, John Adams, used the tune for a song called “Adams and Liberty.”

Key himself had even used the tune before, as accompaniment for verses he wrote in 1805 commemorating American naval victories in the Barbary War.

Though his celebrated anthem proclaimed the United States “the land of the free,” Key was in fact a slaveholder from an old Maryland plantation family, and as a U.S. attorney argued several prominent cases against the abolitionist movement. He did speak out against the cruelties of the institution of slavery, but did not see abolition as the solution.

Instead, Key became a leader of the colonization movement, which advocated the relocation of black slaves to Africa and eventually resulted in the modern nation of Liberia.

Whether or not Key was a racist slaveholder during slavery has sweet fuck all to do with 2018 America. The NFL is not slavery no matter how hard some try to portray it to be. Things are certainly far from perfect in this nation we live in and vast improvements MUST be made, particularly in the way police treat minorities, but let's move forward and not focus on the past. There are always going to be rich people and poor people.

The anthem ruling by the NFL was a missed opportunity and was dumb. What are we supposed to do about that?

Reid will not win. The owners will use their multi-million dollar lawyers to stop him and future players from trying to take more money from them. They are their employees.

Maybe not. But maybe he will. I would think Kaepernick would have or has a stronger case than Reid, whom I personally think is not signed because the FA safety market is in a glut and he's asking for too much money (note to Reid: Kenny Vaccaro, Tre Boston, Demps, etc are all still looking for jobs. They aren't being colluded against either.).

Yeah I keep seeing that, and despite everything else suspect about the statement..  It's the teams that are being fined, not the players aka "employees".  Because, y'know, again this is about power & control.  It's important than the conversation stay well away from racist police brutality.

So anyway.. Can we move on to the "protesters = traitors" thing now or would that be skipping a step?  This is my first real fascism, I've only read about it in books & stuff so I'm not really sure how it goes.

First fascism, eh? I remember my first one. It was 1968 era Spain, and Ferdinand Franco (God save him!) was our Dear Leader. It all started back in 1939 when.....

That's some funny shit. Imagine the pride Sean Hannity would feel if the NFL actually named a penalty procedure after him. He'd bleat on and on about it on TV.

The BLM protests garnered world wide attention, the 1 minute protests of multi millionaire football players 2 years after the fact is what it is, window dressing.

As soon as you said "they can't fix it because the white power brokers" I simply stopped reading.  Just another excuse. The cities are run by Democrats, that is the problem.

Going skin color is a joke. You are pathetic.

You are pathetic huh?

Not an unexpected response from those who do not see the truth because they CHOOSE to not see it.

But I digress... no, they are not all victims, as they will tell you themselves. The facts are the facts though, and no matter how hard you, and others like you, want to suppress the truth, it won’t work.

I will proudly be “pathetic” , because I choose to see the truth for what it is.

You just go on with a your “non-pathetic” racist denying bullshit and...

All of the problem areas have one thing in common, Democrat leadership. That includes most UNION controlled police forces.  Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, and New Orleans. All have been run by Democrats for decades.  Of course this "Truth" doesn't fit your racist narrative.

Hey stupid fuck... they are politicians owned by the highest bidder... just like the union bosses. Not only that, but where there ARE people of color in charge, how do you suggest they go against hundreds of years of institutionalized racism?

How the fuck are they supposed to fix that?

I love seeing people come out from under their white sheets... next thing I suppose is you’ll say is “well their own race started slavery in Africa, so it’s their fault...”

Sad... it’s just so sad how people try to justify racism.

I do appreciate seeing your true colors though, as I’m sure many others do as well.

Too bad I can’t ban a mod who now appears to be openly racist.

It's a classical modal tune. Might sound weird o modern ears, but it melodically very simple. It actually evolved over the first 50 years and the current melody had to be codified by presidential committee. The version we have is what sounded best to the ears of 1890's musicians.

C Ionian - A Aeolian - D Aeolian progression

The only "atonal" accidental is the F# during "say does thAT" and that is just a 5 on 2 substitution - a staple of modern rock. If there's anything truly weird it's having so many minor chord in an anthem. But "God Save The Queen" is similar.

Nah. I've got four years of a music degree under my belt, and I know shit when I hear it.

Even then it only sounded good when you were drunk.

And I was also being facetious...
