Peter King = King of Peter

King cannot fathom how the Bengals addressed their biggest need instead of taking a QB who is far from a sure thing to pan out?  What a clown comment.  The Bengals o-line sunk the whole team last season.  Price helps fix that problem immediately.  As for Jackson, plenty of teams who could use a young QB also passed on him, including the Saints and Pats (twice).  People far more knowledgeable than myself have cast doubt on his ability to transition to the NFL, most notably Bill Polian.  Bottom line is he's not a slam dunk prospect like King apparently believes.

You left out his beloved stealers.

And you're pretty stupid if you can't fathom why a team that has a QB under contract for a while and no center would draft a center over a QB.

Bahaha Peter King.  One of the worst human beings in sports journalism.  The guy who doubled down on lying to/scamming a little kid out of a preseason foul ball, the guy who thinks that everyone gives a shit about his daughter's softball team, what coffee he drinks, and what hotel he stays at.  And despite this, despite all the things that make him terrible, the worst might be his complete and utter lack of football knowledge or insight.

This is the guy who said Antowain Smith would lead the AFC in rushing one day.  Even if Jackson becomes a star, the worst thing for the Bengals to do right now is try to "push" Dalton with a big "maybe" QB, and with no o-line to boot.  He's thinking like a couch-surfing fantasy football know-it-all who only knows online stats and blind opinion... which is actually an upgrade for him.  Nothing he says should ever be taken seriously, about football or otherwise.

He must be butthurt about something from his stint in Cincinnati years ago. He never misses a chance to shit on the Bengals.

Bengals are the sports media punching bag.  IDK exactly why, looking at some of the other teams in the NFL,  but that's the breaks.

There are very few sports writers that aren't just regurgitating press releases or trolling.  King manages to do both, while also talking about his favorite flavors of fruit beer.

how silly for endless sports analysts to see theres no real winning ever going to happen with dalton and continue to point it out year after year, and be correct, year after year,  good things we have a bunch of professional fans around here to set them straight..

im sure THIS is the year we get all 21 positions so good they can hide all of andys insufficiencies. THIS is the year... 8th year is really when QB hits his stride..  had the 7 year senior slump last year like every QB does.. but this is finally it..

only playoff game we had a CHANCE of winning in the last 8 years andy was in a hand cast because he broke his thumb trying to tackle the DL man he through a pick to in his own backfield, in the red zone.

stupid peter king...

glad everyone is on top of this.. not trying to fall for this fake news.

Your argument would make more sense if Dalton had played poorly in the playoff losses.

deep down I believe he's a Bengals fan, but hides it with all the negativity in order not have too much of an emotional attachment. It's that psychology stuff.

But man, it's been long past time for him to move on. The SI site is among the worst. It's not even remotely a sports journalism site anymore.

He was having an MVP worthy season in 2015 before getting injured and didn't play at all in that playoff loss.

1. I'm not convinced Lamar Jackson is going to be a good NFL QB

2. Even if he is, he wouldn't be here since we can't protect the QB very well.

3. Then he would have a built in excuse for not being a very good QB, he would be a victim rather than flat out sucking.

King's argument is that drafting Jackson would put "legit pressure on Andy Dalton to play better."  Its a bad, shitty argument because no quarterback will succeed unless the o-line improves, especially a raw rookie like Jackson.  What the Bengals did makes plenty of sense even if King can't fathom it.

No way a guy who got a 13 on his Wonderlic is going to push anyone.  Keep in mind, that is after intense studying and sample problems to try and increase his score.   There is little recent history of QBs with low Wonderlics succeeding in todays very cerebral game.  And don't pull out guys from the 80s as examples,..the Wonderlic didn't carry nearly the weight back then.

Now if we would have moved up and taken one of the other 2 QBs (that will be good), I would buy King's argument but Jackson will NOT be a successful long term QB in this league.  Might have some RGIII success early but he will suffer the same fate.  Just ask Marcus Mariotta how well running around works long term.

BTW, this is what SI said about our first round pick: "It’s not a sexy pick, especially with Lamar Jackson, a potential replacement for Andy Dalton, on the board. But it’s a grossly necessary pick. The Bengals have had major problems against interior designer pass rush tactics the past two years, and their O-line got no movement in the ground game last season.  A-"

I love how the SI comment mentions how we've had "major problems against interior pass rush tactics the past two years...". TWO YEARS? LOL, try more like seven or eight years.
