2018 NFL Power Rankings.

Might as well start some stupid early conversations!!   BTW, they said that Marvin Lewis has been the coach since 2015 in the first one.  USA Today is dog crap.

27 Cincinnati Bengals

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. The Cincinnati Bengals somehow and some way thought it was genius to give head coach Marvin Lewis a two-year extension. Did we mention he's been the coach since 2015, and the Bengals haven't won a playoff game since 1990?

Oh, and the Bengals once again opted to do pretty much nothing in free agency. They did fix the offensive line by trading for Cordy Glenn from the Buffalo Bills, but they also lost key running back Jeremy Hill in free agency.

Once again, seven wins is the Bengals' ceiling. That's just life when you keep Lewis around as your coach.

The Cincinnati Bengals are stuck in an unsatisfactory status quo, thanks in large part to the constant mediocrity Andy Dalton puts forth at the quarterback position. While A.J. Green may be one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, he rarely makes Dalton look like an elite-level starter. Perhaps they can finally get the ball rolling with second-year running back Joe Mixon on the ground this season.

With linebacker Vontaze Burfict facing another suspension to start the season, the Bengals can plan on being a little slow out of the gates. Fellow linebacker Preston Brown, who was added in free agency, will have to step up immediately. Defensive tackle Geno Atkins will do his best to buoy this unit, but don’t count on him to make Cincinnati’s defense into a serviceable group all on his own.

27.  Cincinnati Bengals (7-9) - Previously: 29.
The Bengals have really struggled in recent seasons. A big part of that, at least in 2017, was the decline of their offensive front. Fixing the blocking had to be priorities A, B and C this offseason, and the "A" solution was Cordy Glenn in a nice trade with Buffalo. The "B" part of that equation was first-round pick Billy Price, who will be a big upgrade at center. There was no "C," but the Bengals will definitely block better, giving them a chance to be competitive in more games. Not having Vontaze Burfict around in the first four games will hurt, however.

The first one is laughable.  We did nothing in FA but picked up a player at a position we desperately needed.   Oh, and we lost key veteran Jeremy Hill who rushed for 117 yards last year.

I get that Andy isn't Tom Brady and ole marv is... well... ole marv. But they did fix (hopefully) the o-line at least a little buy getting new players at the two biggest holes in the line.

They went 7-9 last year and I feel lke they have improved.

I don't think I have seen a prediction higher than like 6-10 except for Bengals fans.

and yes the first one is hilarious.. besides losing key running back JH, ole marv has been our coach since all the way back in 2015.

It's the fucking USA Today and this person knows absolutely nothing about the Bengals...or probably any other team in the NFL.

Actually, I think the original picture I cut (it was huge)  was taken by a USA Today photographer.   The rankings were done by "The Sportster".  It is utter garbage.  I dont get how these people have us so low.  I could accept 18 or so but 25, 27, 27 is bullshit.

I totally disagree. We should be somewhere between 21-23.

God, these guys act like we won three games last season or something. And even once out of it, we didn't quit, beating a desperate for the playoffs Ravens at their place at the end of the season.

I mean, FFS, they talk about how bad the oline was last season without Zeitler and Whitworth...we won one more game without them than with them! And now the unit is improved!

This feels familiar. It was last this bad in 2011 - some observers then calling them the worst team they had ever seen pre-season and literally predicting no wins. We know how that turned out. They were similarly over-looked in 1981 and 1988 (yes, I am oldish at this point). Having memories of Bengals seasons since around 1976, there are occasional seasons that appear to bolt out of nowhere and catch national observers way off guard with this organization. This year feels to me like another one that could be that way. I am truly bullish on this team, in a way I have not been in awhile. I really do think the o-line is fixed, and with that a lot falls into place. As long as Andy stays healthy, I really do expect a big year from this team.

If there's anything more useless than an offseason power ranking it would run for re-election.

Speaking of that, here was ESPN's Preseason Rankings for '17.

As a recap,

Philly was 15

Minny was 17

LA Rams was 27

Jacksonville was 28.

ESPN is such a crew of incredible prognosticators!!😅😅
