Long snapper in concussion protocol?  That's not good.  Are they going to have to get one off the street?

Nah, just need to do everything from under center, go for every 4th down, and only go for two point conversions. I really should have been a coach.

Sadly, yes. They will have to cut someone to do it too. Not a huge deal but, not good either. The best long snappers are the ones you never hear about...COUGH COUGH...Brad St.Louis. We'd miss Clark Harris if he can't go. The Bengals are beat to rat shit and the walking wounded are on virtually every unit of the team. They need some guys to get healthy fast.

11 of 53 Cincinnati Bengals don't practice

Cincinnati EnquirerPublished 4:35 p.m. ET Oct. 24, 2018

The league gives seven inactive spots on Sunday, so no team can hold an advantage of having more or less injured players than their opponent.

That is unless the list of injured blows through seven into the double digits. That's where the Bengals were at Wednesday as they returned to practice.

A total of 11 players did not participate in preparation for the Buccaneers. That comes one day after they placed their seventh player of the season in IR, in tight end Mason Schreck.

It doesn't include center Billy Price, who returned to practice in a limited role for the first time in more than a month.

Here's the complete list of those who didn't practice: HB Giovani Bernard (knee), LB Vontaze Burfict (hip), CB Darqueze Dennard (sternoclavicular), OT Jake Fisher (back), LS Clark Harris (concussion), OT Bobby Hart (back), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (Achilles), TE Tyler Kroft (foot), WR John Ross (groin) and LB Nick Vigil (knee).

Defensive tackle Adolphus Washington also missed a portion of practice with a tailbone injury.

Some of the injured players could improve and rejoin practice on Thursday, but Vigil, Ross, Kroft, Dennard and Bernard all are expected to miss Sunday's game. The list could inevitably be much longer than that judging by Wednesday's injury report.

"We've just got to weather the storm and come back on the other side *clap-clap-clap*," Marvin Lewis said even though it hasn't rained in almost a week. "The players just need to do their jobs.  Like me.  And I saw some good things out there Sunday. A wet bird never flies at night and you never enter the same river twice.  Mike, is my new extension ready yet?  Soon?"

The Bengals are getting healthier, but there were still a host of players unable to practice on Thursday.

The ones who did return included Dre Kirkpatrick (Achilles), Clark Harris (concussion), Jake Fisher (back) and Bobby Hart (back). Of that group, Harris was the only one to not get in a full session, as he was limited and remains iffy for Sunday. The big name there is Kirkpatrick, who has a big test ahead of him with Tampa Bay featuring Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson at wide receiver.

Giovani Bernard (knee), Darqueze Dennard (sternoclavicular), Tyler Kroft (foot), Nick Vigil(knee) John Ross (groin) and Vontaze Burfict (hip) remained out. It’s untelling who among them will be able to play in Week 10 following a much-needed Week 9 bye. Ross is expected to miss a few weeks, so you can safely assume he’s out this Sunday.

Billy Price got in another limited session, so he’s probably not playing Sunday, even if he gets in a full session Friday. It makes too much sense to hold him out and give him the bye week to get fully healed and back up to speed before facing the Saints in Week 10.

For the Buccaneers, Gerald McCoy (calf) and Vinny Curry (ankle) remained out Thursday and appear unlikely to play Sunday. That would be two big losses for a Buccaneers defense that’s struggled mightily at times this year.

Starting running back Peyton Barber (ankle) and right tackle Demar Dotson (knee/shoulder) returned to get in a limited session. They probably need to get a full workload in on Friday to be cleared for Sunday.

Oh boy , he's had turf toe type of injury before.

Can I tell you... I had turf toe about ten years ago. I was moving something heavy in my basement wearing my work loafers and I slipped on a loose board. While trying to keep myself upright and the heavy object off of me, I ripped all of the muscle, etc... away from the bone of my big toe.

OMFG. The pain. I limped around for two months. I've broken bones and not suffered a fraction of what that did to me. The nail turned black and fell off. It was purple, swollen, and angry for the entire time.

And if not allowed to properly heal, the chances of it happening again and again are more pronounced.

So, my heart goes out to AJ, and as much as I like him on the field, they need to let that heal. And if anyone makes a "pussy turf toe injury" comment, you're welcome to visit my basement and move my shooting range around.

I sprained my big once pretty much the same way, wearing open toed slides and caught the thing on a very heavy non moving park bench.  Could not run for weeks.  Can't imagine what tearing the tendons would have been like.

I frequently got turf-toe playing soccer, as well as sprained ankles.  I started taping my toes together and wearing lace-up ankle braces  when playing, starting about twelve years ago.  I’ve had no turf-toe or sprained ankle since, so I’m not about to stop doing it.

Cincy Jungle has an update that it is simple precautionary and he is fine. Good news in an otherwise terrible year of injuries so far.

That doesn't necessarily make me feel better. We've heard this tune before with other players, then next thing you know , they're done for the year.

Well, don’t know if the Bengals can recover from this one. Unreal the amount of injuries and the big names going down every single game.

Reports that he's likely to miss "some games". Time to call up Dez?

Wasn't turf toe the injury AJ Green had back in the 2014 season?

Yes sir that is correct.

"Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green was carted off the field during warmups at practice on Wednesday, apparently re-aggravating the toe injury that has bothered him since he suffered the injury in the team’s the season opener. His status for Saturday’s game against the Carolina Panthers is in doubt.

Per Bengals.com, Green had an MRI exam on Wednesday and will be evaluated Thursday by a number of foot specialists. “It’s believed the MRI again showed no tears or breaks, but he’s obviously still having discomfort in the ligament under the sesamoid bone in the ball of the foot underneath the big or great toe,” writes Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com."

FWIW he also wore a special shoe made for him for at least 2 years after that incident that I'm aware of. For all I know he still does.

The Cincinnati Bengals have placed defensive end Carl Lawson on season-ending injured reserve, the team announced Monday. With the free roster spot, the team promoted wide receiver Auden Tate off of the practice squad. The team also announced a two-year contract extension for long-snapper Clark Harris.

Tate, a seventh-round draft pick out of Florida State, initially made the Bengals’ 53-man roster before being waived on Oct. 18 and signed to the practice squad. The rookie was inactive for the first six games.

Harris, a 10th-year player, signed a two-year extension through the 2020 season. He has been a reliable long snapper since first signing with Cincinnati as a free agent in 2009. He has had no unplayable snaps in 1364 attempts as a Bengal (727 punts, 637 placekicks). Harris, who also has 31 special teams tackles during that span, was named to the Pro Bowl after the 2017 season.

Lawson suffered a torn ACL in Cincinnati’s Week 8 win over the Buccaneers. In his rookie year, Lawson registered 8.5 sacks, 16 tackles and 1 stuff in 16 games played. Lawson managed just one sack in seven games to go with six total tackles. He was consistently getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks and making a big impact, as evidenced by Pro Football Focus, who have him a 79.2 grade, the 13th-best grade of any edge defender.

Lawson promised on Monday that he’d be back to 100 percent next season!

He will not need foot surgery, but Bengals’ WR AJ Green is expected to miss at least two games before doctors re-evaluate his foot injury to determine when he can play again, per source.
