Injury updates

Even not having AJ for two games is a disaster, especially since we're already down most of our TE's and Giovanni Bernard. I sure hope Bill Lazor, who has known about AJ's condition for awhile now, has come up with a gameplan that seriously involves Joe Mixon. He's our best playmaker we have available, and we need to get him significant touches to carry the offense (much like Jeremy Hill did in 2014 the last time this happened to AJ) and to help keep Brees and his offense on the sidelines as much as possible.

That, and the defense needs to man up and stop somebody once in a while.

Injury report

Uzomah said a shoulder injury suffered against Tampa Bay will not keep him from playing Sunday against New Orleans. But the Bengals will keep his workload "really easy," this week given the lack of depth at tight end.

"Do whatever they tell me I can and can't do, I guess," said Uzomah, who did not practice Monday.

Others who did not practice: linebackers Vontaze Burfict (hip) and Nick Vigil (knee). :42:

"We’ll just have to go through the week and see how we do," Lewis said. "Some of the guys who have been out are getting close to being back and healthy, which is good."

First-round pick Billy Price is expected to return at center after being out since Week 2 with a foot injury.

Wide receiver John Ross (groin) and running back Gio Bernard (knee) practiced Monday.

Cornerback Darqueze Dennard (shoulder) spent time working at the rehab field.

That doesn't necessarily make me feel better. We've heard this tune before with other players, then next thing you know , they're done for the year.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports A.J. Green (toe) is expected to miss at least "some games."

And that's in a best-case scenario. Green is consulting with foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson to determine whether he needs surgery, which of course would knock out Green for more than "some games," and potentially threaten the rest of his season. The Bengals already lost Tyler Eifert (ankle) for the year, while John Ross (groin) has been unable to keep himself off the shelf.

Exhibit A.  Happens all the time with this team.

Yep. Just had a bad feeling about it.

Getting Ross, Bernard and Price back can only help. I'm wondering if you can play Price at ORG to help bolster the line. I agree that the Bengals need to put as many of their good players on the field as possible and need to get creative. Looks incredibly likely that they will be without Green, Kroft, Vigil, Dennard which is not good. '

It would be nice to think with the Saints on the road and the potential for a trap game sandwiched between tilts with the Rams and Eagles coupled with the Bengals coming off the bye that we'd have a small chance. I'm not thinking it's likely though.

This week we should be focusing on a run heavy O, keeping Breeze off the field.

This.

This week will focus on a pass heavy offense to showcase the talents of Cody Core and Josh Malone

as well as the durability of John Ross.

Apparently, Billy Price and John Ross were full go in practice today with Gio limited. Burfict, Dennard, Kroft and Vigil all on the rehab field. Dennard with no sling and Kroft actually running. Sounds like progress. If they could somehow get all of these guys back for the Ravens game and beyond, they might still have a shot at the playoffs.

Good point on Ravens game.  It would be a mistake to bring any of these guys back early to play a game that they shouldn't win.  If Bengals are to win Sunday it will be as much a factor of NO having a letdown as the Bengals kicking their ass.  Let 'em sit.

Agreed

Fuck all that noise though.   No way any team should concede games no matter how bad they look on paper.  Telling players they're going to sit because they'd lose anyway would trash whatever credibility Clappy may still have with that locker room.
