Bengals and Stealers get into fight on Paul Brown Stadium field after Week 6 game

Joe Mixon was reportedly involved.

By Jason Marcum@marcum89  Updated Oct 14, 2018, 4:45pm EDT

After the Bengals dropped a heartbreaker to the Stealers, several players engaged in a postgame skirmish on the field.
It sounds like Bengals running back Joe Mixon was involved.
Depending on how serious the fight was, players could be fined and even suspended for what happened, though it’s hard to know right now what exactly went down. The game broadcast did not show the fight, but did show Mike Tomlin running toward it.

We’ll update this story as more details come out...

And a little rumble after the game to top it off. Broken up fairly quickly.

Mike Tomlin with the “imma whoop yo ass if you keep fighting” jog toward the Stealers at the very end there.

All reports are Mixon was escorted off the field for illegal behavior #Bengals #SeizeTheDey

I'm sorry... Are they accusing guys of doing something they didn't do? "Witch hunt"?

If guys are throwing punches after the game, that's not acceptable. Period. And if our guys started it... They have video you know. SkyCam so they can see it from every angle only at NFL.com.

Draft low character knuckle head players, get low character knuckle head behavior. So much for composure or this being a better team.

Worth a click, I can't get it to post the clip of the hit, but Burfict "might" (ha ha) get suspended for this shot and no flag was even thrown.

I remember that one, because I cringed. He lowered his shoulder to hit him in the head but missed and only hit him with an elbow. It wasn't a clean play. Legal by NFL rules? Maybe. But if I was a HS coach and saw an opposing player try that, I'd be livid.

There was no flag thrown because he missed. But the intent looked pretty obvious. Fun having you for two whole games Taz.

So also suspend the entire stealer OL for constantly trying to take Burdock's knees out? Even if they missed?

Yes, because as we all know, two wrongs always make a right. Everything is justified if you can just point out that someone else did something wrong at some point. Kimo VonOlhoffen mother fuckers!

OK. How about the whole fucking league? You're suggesting that a player can get suspended just by judging his intent. Where would it end?

Ummm, the NFL has MANY penalties that judge intent.

You want to complain about the pick play at the end? Was Hunter's intent to run a route or block? The NFL judges intent all the damn time.

He lowered his shoulder and targeted the head. It's not rocket science. It was obvious to a lay observer in real time.

Against low life pieces of human shit it is, actually 4-5 wrongs might not make a right. Broken jaws, shredded knees, celebrating over Gio's lifeless carcass. Shazier got his though.

Wow, you're all over the place and inane bringing up the pick play. Intent obviously doesn't matter in PI or there would be no PI. Their intent is to break up the play. You're obviously in a contrary mood. Maybe that's your way to vent after another ass fucking by the refs.

Thanks for the armchair psychology.

At least I'm not on here whining like a little bitch because those mean ol' Stealers beat us again.

If intent doesn't matter, why is the league saying it wasn't a penalty because he was running a route and the defender initiated contact? But hey, maybe that's your way of not accepting the truth after another ass fucking by Big Ben and Mike Tomlin.

See...and there were questionable calls, but, it’s always going to be a combination of not getting enough calls and we didn’t quite do enough stuff to win in a close game like this one.

I can easily push back and say that we had 0 sacks because we didn’t see a single offensive holding penalty against the Stealers all day. But, how many catchable passes did our receivers drop and how many interceptions did our linebackers and defensive backs drop?

I still feel we are a good team that can get better and healthier. If these two things happen, and I think they can based on what I judge to be a fundamental mindset difference from our recent past, I think this team could give us a little ride into the post season this year.

The NFL almost never calls pick plays at the line of scrimmage.  Our DB should have never lined up outside their receiver and allow himself to get picked inside like that.    This shit goes on in every game and a good DB doesn't fall for it.

It’s ironic because I had eyes on the Dolphins game and literally just minutes before our game ended in misery, the Dolphins D were the beneficiary of just such a call.

I dunno, we were likely gonna get beat on a field goal, anyhow.

The NFL Speaks...

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nfl-Stealers-game-winning-touchdown-antonio-brown-legal-play-035718419.html

🏽Contains video of the play☝🏽

NFL senior vice president of officiating Al Riveron might have anticipated some controversy over Antonio Brown’s dramatic game-winning touchdown for the Pittsburgh Stealers, so on Sunday night he explained why the play was legal.

It appeared Stealers receiver Justin Hunter might have set an illegal pick on Bengals cornerback Tony McRae. Brown motioned to a spot just outside of Hunter, ran a slant inside of Hunter while Hunter and McRae made contact with each other. That gave Brown a lane to the end zone, especially since the Bengals had an all-out blitz called, and he scored a 35-yard touchdown in the final seconds. The Stealers won 28-21.

While it looked like possible offensive pass interference, Riveron said it wasn’t because the defensive player initiated the contact.

“The contact is initiated by the defender, and therefore the receiver is not responsible for this contact,” Riveron said on the officiating video.

Bengals not happy with the non-call

That won’t help the Bengals feel better. They were miffed after the game.

“They’re good at running picks and stuff like that, and we let them do it again,” Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap said, according to The Athletic

Bengals safety Clayton Fejedelem didn’t feel like it was a clear call.

“Depends who is reffing the game,” Fejedelem said, according to The Athletic. “It can go either way. That’s the thing about those calls. They can say it is unintentional or whatever, but it’s a crap shoot.”

Stealers escape with a win

It was an intense game for both sides. The Bengals have had a tough time against the Stealers in recent meetings, losing some heartbreaking games. The Stealers came into the game with a 2-2-1 record and didn’t want to dig a deeper hole.

It doesn’t help that there were some hard feelings over how the game ended. But the NFL made sure to explain right away why its officials did the right thing in not making what would have been an enormous penalty call, because it said the defensive player was responsible for the contact.

btw...

We are all off the scale pissed and frustrated for a million reasons but please, lets not turn on one another.

Shit gets out of hand and people leave the board one way or another.

OH... Stealers suck.

As a P.S.

With so many starters busted up it could be a very ugly remainder of the season.

I mean, it's not the 30 yards we gave up before that... We called a cover 0 with the game on the line and got burned.

I don't like the call, and I haven't seen the fight. But every time we lose, we have the same gaggle of people blaming the refs because they favor whomever.... Cam Newton, the Stealers, Joe Flacco's eyebrows...

Vontaze Burfict is a choir boy who just keeps getting screwed by the league because... Reasons. Roger Goodell doesn't like chihuahuas or some shit. Joe Mixon? You must be in a "contrary mood" to think that guy would EVER throw a punch! That's totally out of character for him!  The Stealers managed to hold all 4 D Linemen on every play the entire game! Geno and Dunlap are powerless if you just put your hands under their pads! They tried to cut block guys! Of course it's OK for someone to try and decapitate a WR because of that.... DUH!

It has nothing to do with them being in our heads so we do stupid shit. Nope, couldn't be.

And I'm sure it was Mixon in the fight - No one on defense showed any fight at all yesterday.

Jeez Louise with the hostility on here...

Personally I felt they lost the game at other moments:

Taking a 7-0 lead and allowing them to score 14 unanswered. Why? Why not put a foot on their throat.

Having to punt due to A.J. Green and Cody Core. If Cody Core is running routes, that tells you that you should be running the ball. Our guys dropped the passes, there guy made an unbelievable play to score a TD. That’s why they win.

Dropping interceptions. Despite having no pressure for the entire 60 minutes, Ben still manages to gift us 3 interceptions. We dropped all 3 (Burfict, Jackson, Dennard). On top of that, we forced a fumble and didn’t recover it.

Being Marvinized every 3rd quarter. What’s the point of deferring when we may be the worst 3rd quarter team in football. WE HAD 4 YARDS IN THE 3rd QUARTER.

Who deserves to win a game when you do that?

snapping the ball with 17 seconds left on the play call on the final drive. Just why? Dalton has to be smarter than that. Time was NEVER going to be an issue. Let the clock run down to 1 second and get the game to underca minute.

It comes down to Marvin Lewis’s teams never making the big plays when needed. The Stealers always make them against the Bengals.
